They have been our team since 1984. Moving the practice facility made it official. Keep the name; we'll keep the team, and all you apple-eatin' window-lickers can suck on a hairy goat testicle.

Technically he has a point since the team does play in NJ, but I just hate when politicians feel the need to talk about sports.

I dont want Christie talking about the Jets. I dont wanting Corbett talking about the Steelers. And I dont want Obama telling us the Bears are going to the Superbowl when he cant name 3 Bears players. Politicians need to STFU when it comes to sports.

Chris Christie is probably the best Gov NJ has had in 50 years. Ever since he has been Gov. the Jets have been good. The guy was one of the greatest Federal Prosecutors in the United States and now he is one of the best Governors in the United States.

I actually like the idea of changing the name to the New Jersey Jets. This team had the opportunity to move back to NY and it refused to do so unless the westside stadium deal was approved. They could have built a new stadium in Queens or Brooklyn. IMO they SHOULD have done so. Instead Woody choose to locate his SOA practice facility in NJ and he stupidly decided to partner with the Giants in the New meadowlands. So he choose New Jersey.

Why not just rename the team the New Jersey Jets as Gov. Christie has recommended?

    Makes sense.

I agree with this. It's the New York City metro area that is referred to, not New York State. Part of that area is in Jersey. BFD.

Christie sounds like a bandwagon fan.

Fuck Christie. So many years Jets were out there & nobody gave a fuck about NY Jets. He also never mentioned it when he became governor. Now that the team is winning & drawing attention, he wants to somehow take advantage of the situation & draw attention to himself.

Whether the name changes from NY Jets to NJ Jets succeeds or fails, he'll get plenty of attention based on how Jets are dominating headlines. Which is most likely all he gives a damn about when bringing up this topic.

I think the Minnesota Twins where the first professional franchise named after a home state instead of a city, but I could be wrong. Pretty stupid if you ask me.

I'm a Jerseyite (Jerseyan? Jerseyer?) and I have no problem with either the Giants or Jets being called NY. Lots of teams practice and play outside of the major city that they represent in all sports. I don't get why people get so worked up about this. The Jets are representatives of the Metropolitan area. Would calling them the Metro Jets be better?

Totally not a fan of this guys. Not that I'm a fan of ours in NY either.

I'm pretty sure at the old stadium (pre psl) something like 70 percent of Jets season ticket holders were from NY and most of them were Long Islanders. I had heard this fact thrown out more than once by people thru the years. Not that it's a big deal but I'm just sayin'.

Probably none since DUI is a state law criminal offense and federal prosecutors don't handle state law criminal prosecutions.
