Obviously Troy's play against Baltimore earlier in the season was a great play but let's be real, that was an atrocious job by Flacco not noticing him creeping up on the line. How do you not account for where Troy Polamalu is on a critical play in the fourth quarter??
I think everyone is in the same boat. People are just showing some of Polamalu's misses because the stiller fans act like Polamalu makes the team 7 times better. Dont get me wrong Troy is great, but he is only one player on defense. It's not like he's the difference between a 2 win season and a 13 win season.
Yes not top 10 but 12th which is pretty amazing when you limit teams to 60 yards of rushing. That's the 2nd least amount since the merger. Most teams didn't even bother trying to run on us (Pats, Ravens, Saints, Bengals) The Raven's have a good OLine themselves...didn't work out as easy as they expected.
How much of a difference will Troy make..we will know more on Sunday. Throw Heath Miller and Aaron Smith in that equation as well.
While I think Troy playing definitely makes the Squeelers a better defense. Having said that, this game is against their front 7, our O-line and blocking backs/TE's. IF Keller has a decent day that kind of helps to nullify the "Troy" effect. Again, much like Indy and N.E., this game comes down to Sanchez...if he remains upright most of the time and makes smart decisions we should win this game. As proven by that might fine comeback this weekend...you start getting careless with the ball and the Squeelers will make you pay. Do NOT look at the Jets beating Pitt earlier in the season as anything more than a W. Start throwing around "yeah, but we already beat you" crap and you only have to look to the N.E. game...yeah...they already humiliated us...what did that get them...nothing. To be honest, the ONLY thing that W earlier this year buys the Jets is a bit more confidence to know they CAN go into the Ketchup Bottle and win. Period. This is going to be a slobber knocker. The only way this game becomes a blow out is either one shows up not on their game...which BOTH teams have been known to do this season. No sir...I give this game to the Jets 17-13 simply because they have more talent across the board with more experience than the Squeelers at this time...outside of Big Ben. I'll give the Squeelers the upper hand in QB, D-Line and LB'ers but the Jets are, imo, better in every other position. We have the better, more experienced receiving tandem, better secondary overall, better O-line and better backs. Also, even with Brad Smith questionable, better overall special teams. This game will be one for the ages.
No, but he is the difference between a 9-7 team last year that didnt make the playoffs when he was gone the whole year pretty much, and a 12-4 team this year in which two of the losses came when he was gone as well. Thats practically a 5 game win/loss change. pretty impressive.
Thanks- wasn't trying to be an asshole, glad you didn't take it that way. It's going to be a tough one for us, we're so overmatched in this game. Looking forward to it- Cheers.
What? The Jets have more experience than the Steelers? Where? The Steelers have won 2 Super Bowls since 2005 and here are players with Super Bowl experience on the Steelers: Roethlisberger, Mendenhall, Miller, Ward, Adams, Kemo, Essex, Keisel, Hampton, Harrison, Woodley, Timmons, Farrior, Fox, Foote, Taylor, Polamalu, McFadden, Gay, and Clark. I am sure if I go through the whole roster, I can find even more. The Steelers also have the 7th oldest roster according to ESPN with the Jets in the teens. I also do not buy the Jets have more talent. The Jets have 2 offensive players heading to the Pro Bowl, the Steelers have one. They have 1 defensive player heading to the Pro Bowl, the Steelers have 3. In fact, outside of Revis on defense, no one is all that. On offense, you have two good linemen and a couple running backs. Your WRs show up...SOMETIMES..and then other times they drop wide open passes. I would easily take Ward, Wallace, Miller, Sanders, ARE, and Brown over your receiving group. And, with Ben throwing to them, it is easy to state the Steelers passing attack is better than the Jets. The Steelers also have a better run defense. If the Jets are so talented, why are they a wild-card team? You split with the Patriots. How did they ever lose to anyone else?
You lost to the Patriots. And you're basing this on a fan-based voting stupid system? And you'd take Wallace, Miller, Sanders "are" Brown over Edwards or Holmes? Brilliant observations.
Why did we already beat you? Your "superior" passing attack means dick against our SUPERIOR pass defense. Your oline is in pieces right now, how do you not see that? Any real football fan would know our receivers are far better, it's not even close. Ward is good, Wallace is spread the field guy, that's it. He's damn good at it but not a precise route runner. Holmes is like Ward and Wallace mashed into one. You do not have a Edwards on your team yet. Your young guys show some promise, but that 58 yard pass to Brown would never happen to us in that situation. No way in hell any team should let any receiver get behind them there. That was a breakdown by the Ravens. The Ravens shut down Wallace and Ward, what do you think our defense will do with them? Our secondary is so much better since we played last. Eric Smith was out and Pool/Lowery were just getting used to their roles. Now we have 3 good safeties to put out on every play. Your defense is great, but your offense is slightly above average. We've faced much better offenses in our 2 playoff wins already. This will come down to your defense being able to stop our offense. :steelers:
