champ dial 1 please, champ dial 1.... The NYJs' knocked off BB and TB despite all the VLTs and AFCEs they've won in the past and we still haven't heard form you. Want to make sure the ticker didn't give out on Sunday. champ to the front, please.......thank you.
No, he's out of town and away from his computer. Believe me, he's elated over the win and will return.
I can already tell you what he would say We still have 1 game left to raise the LHT to get to SB and 2 games left to raise the VLT and win the SB. I agree with him. I am not satisfied just making it to the title game this year and after hearing Rex's comments I don't think he is either.
This is all for naught if we don't win it all. The streets are strewn with 2nd-place Superbbowl runner-ups, just ask Dan Marino. We're going all the way with this one. You heard it here first. This is the one that brings us the 2nd VLT.
I hope your right, last year while I wouldn't call it a fluke was unexpected. Going into the season many of us including myself expected us to be here. I'm not a Yankee or Laker fan but now I understand what it is like to go into the season with realistic expectations of winning a championship. I don't want to know what it's like to fail to meet those expectations. At this point anything less then watching Rex tell the world to kiss his ass while he's raising that SB Trophy will be a huge disappointment.
This team is built for this upcoming Superbowl. The intensity they brought to Foxboro is stunning the non-believers like Cowher. I think the Jets can beat the Steelers and then beat any NFC team they want to put up. This is going to happen this year, fellas. I can just feel it. That is why I am already making plans to go to Dallas in two weeks. This is the one I've been waiting for for 42 years.
I think your right, they knew once they got beat by the Pats they realistically had no shot at the division so they started to rest guys like LT down the stretch. Obviously they wanted to win games but I think once they beat the Steelers it became more about getting into the postseason healthy then it was about trying to catch New England. While LT still doesn't look like he did early on he looks fresher then he did in weeks 8-16. Greene looks like he is fresh as well. I kept telling people who were stressing about us not giving him a ton of carries that this was all part of the plan to keep him ready for right now. What's amazing is that the OL looks better with Hunter then they did with Woody. I know Woody is old and banged up but Hunter has played fantastic after being forced to step up. I honestly think that Rex knew we would have to beat in some combination Pitt, Balt, New England or Indy to get to Dallas so he did things a little different down the stretch. My guess is we won't see nearly as much zone against the Steelers as we did last time. The combo of Drew Coleman and Brodney Pool are going to have to do a great job on that 3rd WR/TE but I think we match up very well with Pittsburgh.
I was totally impressed with our DEF and how they got Brady riled. Bart Scott (or one of the guys... not sure it was Scott) said after the game that they knew they "had" Brady when he started "looking for the blitz that wasn't there." They got in his head. Rothlisberger can be rattled too. He makes terrible decisions when his patterns are inturrupted and this game is going to be similar to the Pats game in that regard. Get after him and keep him off balance. Our Offense matches up well too. I expect the game to unfold pretty much like it did against the Patriots. Our offense can score points on them, we just need to take care of the ball again and NOT MAKE MISTAKES!
Doesn't Champ sit in 227 Row 5? (kidding) Can't wait to get his reaction to Rex Ryan being 1-1 in bringing the VLT back to the NYJs.
Not only will Champ have to change it to "Rex Ryan is 1-1 in bringing back the VLT," on February 7th he's got to change the number of days to "It's been 1 day since Woody Johnson won us a SB."
