Can't find anything on how hes doing or when he will return, (if at all). Anyone know??? Brad Smiths TD on STs was about it last time the 2 teams met. But with Troy P's return, the wildcat might be a nice switch up, giving Sanchez time to talk to Schottie on the sidelines.
Early indications are that he may not play, but this could change quickly. Jets | Brad Smith to miss AFC Championship Game? Mon, 17 Jan 2011 19:49:40 -0800 New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said Monday, Jan. 17, that the Pittsburgh Steelers shouldn't expect to see WR Brad Smith (groin) in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 23, reports Mike Mazzeo, of ESPNNewYork.com. "(Smith) never played in [last Sunday's] game," Ryan said. "So I don't think they should plan on him playing." CB Antonio Cromartie would again likely return kicks if Smith is again inactive. 0 Comments | Share: | Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Mike Mazzeo Read more: http://www.kffl.com/hotw/nfl#ixzz1BOlejFoy
We really need Smith back, our ST coverage was subpar against the Pats and he was a huge factor in the last PIT game.
Does anyone believe what Ryan said about Smith after the way he (ryan) played that game last week? I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he was doing it to try and get them to prepare less for him when he will be ready.
They said Brad wanted to play on Sunday but Rex would not let him. I have to think giving him another week will let him heal. I think we need to have Brad in just for the Wildcat, let Cro take the Kick offs, he has been filling in just fine, if anything I believe he is faster than Brad.
I hope this guy is on the Jets payroll or else he needs to learn sarcasm. When Rex made those comments, it was just dripping with sarcasm. Not saying Smith is definitely playing, but his comments that the Steelers shouldnt plan on him playing was a clear joke.
Smith was a game time decision vs New England...that means he was pretty close to playing last Sunday. I would think it's more than a 50% chance he plays this week
I was not at all encouraged by Cromartie's kickoff returns. Yes, he's fast and has some moves but he doesn't have nearly the vision to find the hole that Brad Smith does. On the other hand, I have mixed feelings about the wildcat and think the Jets might be better off putting those plays away for this next game whether or not Brad Smith plays.
rex is getting better at gamemenship. he will keep brad a game time decision as long as possible to put some doubt into the squeelers perparation. i think brad WILL play the wildcat AND i bet there will be at least one LT wildcat or throw. reason? Shotty had a week to get LT prepared (i know he dropped the snap) and now shotty has another week. that's 2 weeks to preparte LT to run a wildcat play and/or toss the rock, which by the way he can do very well. if Brad starts the wildcats, the squeelers will never see the LT play coming.
In the LOSERS game , LT took one rep at the wildcat and it was caned which I can't understand as he supposedly has great hands, (he does). Maybe had we been playing catchup he might have seen more action. But having Smith back would be huge.
100% -- when i watch the press conference yesterday I actually laughed when he said it. You would think after two years people would get Rex' humor. The guy practiced last week and was a last minute scratch....another week of healing and treatment he will be on the field.
We need Smith for his special teams play as much as the seminole packages.. not even for the kick returns, but his special teams "dirty work". We missed him last week for sure.
