Big problem is he was stationed in New England in the military back in the early 60s, right when the Pats were formed.
I love wearing my Jersey to the grocery store every Sunday when I go for football snacks. I always end up in a good-natured war-of-words with someone. This Sunday was great, I got 'boo'd' in the parking lot, then got even greater when I stopped off for a fountain soda at a conv store. As I was walking out, a guy was walking in and yells, "HEY!! ANOTHER JETS FAN!! I am SO standing here and holding the door for YOU!!" and unzips his jacket to show off his Jersey. I have never had anyone be really nasty, but I have gotten plenty of double-takes and eye-rolls.
I live in CT, wore my white Revis jersey today, loved getting to rub it in every single Pats fans face. It was my first day of classes I got so much hate today I seriously was the only one with a Jets jersey on the whole campus it was great feeling thier hate!
I work at UMass Amherst and also am getting my doctorate from there. Got permission from my supervisor (he's from Chicago and a Bears fan) to wear a Jets hat along with my shirt and tie working this weekend. Parents of our students went from "hehe good luck I think you'll need it", early in the day on Sunday to not making eye contact when they had to talk to me today. Priceless.
I live in Mass and whenever I wear my Jets or Yankees hat, I always get nasty stares. More than once a worker at a store refused to help me unless I took my hat off. Not gonna happen. At my office, which is all Pats fans, I taped the Metro front page (with the photo of Rex and the feet) guaranteeing a Jets loss to the door, just as a reminder of how full of shit they were. It's so much fun listening to WEEI. All of the massholes crying like babies!
I am a proud History Graduate of UMass who is enjoying walking around WMass wearing my Jets Cap and Gear. The cooler pats fans are actually pretty congratulatory - they know its our time. All of us WMass Jets fans should converge at the Hangar in Amherst for the Games - I know that there is a signed James Ihedigbo Jets Jersey on the wall there and maybe there is a Vlad Jersey there too. : )
Whoa! History. Nice... Is the Hangar a better hangout than Rafters for Jets fans? A couple years ago, when the ice storm hit in December 2008, our area was completely out of power for the weekend of the Jets/Bills game. I drove 45 minutes to catch the game at Rafters.
Went snowboarding at Jiminy Peak today with my 9 year old son. We both wore our jerseys over our shells. I rocked my Mangold and he rocked his Martin. We ran into another Jet fan wearing a Martin jersey on the mountain as well. Damn it feels good to be a gangster...
I picked up some wings from Rafters before the Colts-Jets game and the bouncer and one of the bartenders were wearing Jets hats. I am down for any western mass meet-up next season ... The Silk City Tap Room in Florence has like 10 jets fans that show up to every game that isn't on local TV, if you guys feel inclined next season and is listed on the Jets website as a "Jet Friendly Bar". I have season tickets so I only go when the Jets game is away and not on TV but every time I have been there for a Jets game its been a good time.
