There were a few calls I disagreed with (obviously) but for the most part he called a very good game. There were times that our offense looked completely dysfunctional though, especially at the beginning, and that has had me frustrated all year. But on the other hand, our offense has a nice habit of showing up and kicking ass when we need them to, so it's hard to complain.
The problem is, no matter how good you are running the ball, you have to keep the Ds honest and not let the safeties crowd the box. U have to throw in order to run and you have to run in order to throw. They go hand in hand. It was a great game and we executed nicely. The drive after the int was just a bad mix up. The Shonn trip, then the OL running into LT on the screen. It wasn't pretty, but we came back strong for most of the game. We kept giving the ball up at the Pats 40 yard line. Thats something that needs to change against a good D like Steelers.
I have yet to hear of fans not bitching about their OC -- BTW, 30 years ago nobody KNEW who was the OC and some teams (Jets, 1980) didn't even employ one.
Other than me throwing my chair across the room because of the calls after the INT return There were a few questionable calls and moments with lack of awareness. Has he called worse games? Yep Was this a great day for him? NOPE but results are the end all and when you win you really can't bitch. and ftr, 28 pts against this D really isn't a big deal, let's not make that into a grand accomplishment
Good. He still has that 'I need to be the smartest guy in the room' mentality, and should have shelved the wildcat until Smith is healthy. But good otherwise
Overall its was great. At first, I wanted to hang him because when Greene was clearly cooking, he would take him out for L.T for him to gain 1 yrd and then we were forced to give the ball back in a tight game. I didnt like it. But after the Patriots did score a TD, everyone expected us to milk the clock by running and we didnt, we aired it out and scored a TD.
hated the end around to mcknight.thought he went to that a little early .thats the type of play you set a defense up for.the edwards holmes mess up when they ended up right next to each other was a little frustrating.other than that it was solid game
He's gotta stop emptying the backfield and going shotgun on 3rd and short. That's akin to flipping your cards before the final hand is dealt. I would also like to see less zone blocking runs and use the edges more. Wilfork is their best player and he ran right toward him all game.
Yep, add to that the 1st time going to the Pussycat right before the EOQ and losing any element of surprise because he wasn't paying attention to the Game clock. Like I said, it wasn't his worst but definitely wasn't his best... I have been bitching about that since Last year.. Why the fuk do you repeatedly run right into the 1 guy that is actually good on that line?
I think you and myself were channeling each other during the game on the schotty thread. I was just as pissed off as you! The 2nd down passes, the failure to run on the edges, the 3rd and short shotgun plays. He's definitely not the smartest tool in the shed.
Patriots defense gave up 19 points a game, so I couldn't disagree more with your last statement. This was a very good gameplan by Schotty, not perfect, but if you're giving him anything less than a solid B, I don't agree with it.
I thought Schotty was his usual predictable self on many runs up the middle, which we were calling from the couch before the ball was snapped. I also thought LT was used on too many of those runs as opposed to Greene, who i believe was better suited to to be successful in those situations.
I was ready to punch someone when we came up dry after the INT, and the empty backfield on 3rd and short has to stop. The WC to LT was also retarded, they havent run the play all year...why now? I'd give schotty a "B" overall for the game, I hope someone hires him as a head coach finally...
