I heard his full explanation on Mike and Mike and I was laughing at it. He claims he even discussed this with Keyshawn beforehand but even if he is being completely truthful he should have just kept it to himself. Nobody wants to hear that you did this as some motivational ploy.
tom jackson was wrong as fuck. hes also one of the few espn guys who knows what hes talking about. just not this time! that excuse is mighty sad though lol
While I think TJ's excuse is lame, I can't actually blame an analyst for picking against us. We're fans, we're allowed to have faith. They have to try to be impartial. All season I sounded like a broken record saying, 'if the Jets ever put 60 minutes together, they'll be anyone.' As fans, we knew that. As analysts, they didn't. It's still satisfying as hell to see though. What did that Doyel clown over at CBS have to say? He was the one who made this personal.
In Bristol, there's a restaurant with an all you can eat Chinese buffet. Every time Chris Berman and Tom Jackson come in for lunch, the owner looks like he wants to cry.
Tom does do a very good job. I like his analysis best out of the guys on that panel, but it was disappointing to hear him spew that non-sense about waking up a sleeping giant. Keyshawn is okay on that show as well. CC, Berman, and Ditka add absolutely nothing to the program. The funny thing is Keyshawn also went solo on picking the Jets over the Chargers LAST year. Yesterday morning, CC was tempted to pick the Jets after Keyshawn picked them to beat the Pats because of his previous success at picking upsets (Jets last year as mentioned and Seahawks last week).
Of the many talking asses on TV, Jackson is one I don't usually mind to be honest. Totally lame ass back pedal on his part. I mean, really. Does he really believe his influence as an announcer is going to give a team a motivational lift? If so, he's an arrogant idiot in that respect. I can believe him if he says he would be pulling for us, even if he voted against us. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't Jackson that actually pissed off Belichick back when they cut Milloy? I thought I remembered a story about that and how he tried to make piece with BB and he chewed his ass on it. Big props to Meshawn for backing Green & White. I know I always hated on him for having a big mouth, but the guy always played with heart and he's actually one of the more fun ones to listen to on the air.
I think Keyshawn is one of the better analysts on ESPN. Not just because he's loyal to the Jets, but he often points out something that most of the others overlook in their cheerleader mode.
