Rex has devised two winning game plans against two Super Bowl winning QB's in their own backyards and have emerged victorious. I know the Jets beat the steelers in a nail biter weeks ago, but obviously, especially after yesterday's win, you can throw the regular season happenings right out the window when it comes to the playoffs. What defensive scheme will Rex employ against Pittsburgh. It's obviously going to take another herculean effort to beat these guys. Do you blitz alot, or drop back for coverage more? The way the jets have been getting pressure as of late, and pittsburgh's suspect o-line, i think they have a great shot to pull this thing off. Stop Mendenhall, by all acounts.
The key is to slow down Mendenhall, we have to be better against the run next week. We also have to body up with Heath Miller all day long, we have to harass him, and bump him at the line. We need to be extremely physical against their recievers and TEs on sunday. offensively, we must establish the run early and grind it out. Also stress ball security. one turnover can be the difference in the game, we cant afford to give the rock away. Also make sure Sanchez realizes its ok if the drive ends in a punt. This is going to be a defensive struggle, and I fucking love it.

This game is going to be on Sanchez.....there will be no running on the Steelers. This is not the Pats/Colts in terms of defense
Agreed -- can't let Heath get open and provide a safety outlet for Roethlisberger. He is deadly, and he was missing in Pittsburgh last month (along with Polamalu). Spaeth scored a TD, but he also dropped the game winner in the EZ.
Need to get passing in order to attempt to open up the run game, we all know how Pitt plays the run on defense. Sanchez is going to be truly tested here, keeping the ball away from Polamalu and making a lot of 3rd and long completions. Defensively, we've learned something the past two weeks, keeping the blitz heat off and staying in coverage proves to be a difficult task for QB's to manage. Unfortunately, the Pitt. run game is outstanding and Mendenhall will be all over the field to open up their own pass game. 1. Sanchez can't afford another 1st half or even 1st quarter drought. 2. Stop the run game, don't let Ben throw those ridiculous 3rd and long completions.
