Hunter also gets flagged a little too often. I respect the 'tude...but be disciplined about it. Especially against a team like the Pats, who will take full advantage of these types of mistakes.
Wayne Hunter did pretty good in those last few games where he started and knew he was playing.. he did shitty in some games where he was thrown in there after Woody went down or in spot duty. So maybe with full preparation he will be ready to roll.
I'm not telling you anything like that, I don't think you can take much out of either situation but in week 17 he faced guys that quit, in preseason he was facing guys fighting for jobs. I get all the excuses why McKnight wasn't active but I thought he was a great gunner? were STs not important in this game? and he showed so much against Buf you would think they'd at least activate him. They don't trust him YET, he is building that trust as is Vlad but these guys are not ready to play in games this big.
The guy he originally replaced at gunner was a DB, we wanted more DB's. We obviously didn't need a 3rd RB. I don't know why I always have to explain these types of things to you. For someone who talks about football so much you'd think it would be self explanatory. Competitors are going to give an effort to win in a meaningless game. Especially if there livelihood depends on it next year. A week 17 performance for a developmental rookie is far more telling as to how ready they are to play than there first ever preseason games. It's not debatable, but of course you will find a way to do it. I don't want him to start either. We have Hunter to start. I just think it's silly to write him off as a definite suck if he goes in. He showed a lot of progress week 17.
nope...I was thinking of Wayne Hunter. He's got a history of taking shitty penalties at inopportune times.
Woody hasn't even been practicing much for weeks, so Wayne has had plenty of snaps for the first team. He'll be fine.
In a perfect world that might be true but in reality it happenes every year where teams out of it basically quit late in the year. Not every player of course but enough to affect the way the game is played. AGAIN, week 17 was MEANINGLESS. He showed promise in week 17 against guys that quit and even when trying they had a terrible defense. We didn't learn much other than he has taken some positive steps. I would be shocked if he was ready to step in if hunter got hurt.
Maybe but Turner is the one who is always shoving after the whistle and is always right on the edge of dirty play.
I haven't given up on the guy(or Mcknight), I just don't trust them in a game this big yet. There's nothing wrong w/ syaing that. I expect both to be big contributors to our team in the coming years.
woody hurt did us little good wayne hunter filled in decently in pitt and chicago so hopefully he is up to the challenge vs the cheatriots
Jets will be fine with Hunter in for Woody. And Ducass will be fine if he is stepping in as another blocker for a run play. I trust Coach Calli to make the right call over any poster here.
Can somebody speak to the loss of Woody as a leader? I know on NFL Network when showing Jets highlights he's the one pumping up the team before games which suggest he's a big leader.
This shit is overrated. Maybe having a veteran leader like Woody helps a young guy like Slauson get up to speed in August but at this point in the season with three days to go until a huge playoff game it's not like anyone should need psyching up.
