Have any other WFAN show been able to interview Jets players or coaches? At the Jets rally ESPN 1050 was there as well, so this partnership seems to be deeper than most people think. Maybe it wasn't personally against Francesa, but in fact a business decision by Woody.
It would help if you could get 1050 in clearly without having to drive past the station. I could get WFAN when I lived in Maryland--used to call Joe Beningo in the middle of the night when he first got on to talk Jets and Knicks.

I've been doing that at work during this Jets run and last year, I'm 30 miles from the city and can't get the station at my office. I drive two nights a week, it comes in the car ok until about 7, Michael Kay is on XM so I get it crystal clear for when they have Sanchez and Mangold on different nights.
Cotchery is on Beningo & Roberts weekly Sanchez, Ihedibo were on Boomer & Carton There were a few others that I can't think of. Tannenbaum might have been on with Boomer & Carton as well.

Cotchery is on with Joe and Evan all the time, and Bart Scott was on with them at least once, so no, Fatty's lie about the Jets staying off WFAN lasted about three days until a caller called him out on it, and then he changed his story to the Jets are boycotting his show. Of course then he admitted that it was the Colts rant that led to the Jets not coming on. Then right after that he reverted back to the "Jets are boycotting his show." He's quite an adept liar.
this is exactly what I though after reading the article. Best mentions that the "boycott" began a year ago, but never mentions why that might have happened (nothing about te post Colts game rants). This is very obviously a PR stunt, either Best is friends with him or owed him a favor........and indeed I think he's getting some heat from the station now, which forced his hand to do some spinning on an outlet other than his show.
This. ESPN 1050's signal blows, I can't get a clear signal in my car but I can for every other station AM or FM.
1050's signal does suck, especially at night. However, I think it's a little better now than it used to be. In the past getting Rangers games was a disastah. Now I normally have no problem at all getting 1050 during the day. At night, it's still crap.

Fair to conclude Francesa doesn't need the Jets. And the Jets don't need Francesa. There are a bunch of other subplots here. One I have long felt is that Mikey's ego was bruised when the Jets went from being a local NY team to a national story and bypassed him. I think the other posters are on the money that Mike is trying to get ahead of the story now in case the Jets do go on a run. The hatchet needs to be buried and Francesa is taking the first steps. It is also interesting that Mikey chose Neil best and Newsday to get his story out. This only really helps him on Long island where he does have a huge ratings base. It does nothing for him in New York city or New Jersey. But Raissmann at The Daily News and Muchnick at The Poat are not freindly to Mike. It will be something to see if they chime in on the story.

He also bashed the Jets during Hard Knock saying they were a classless orginization because of all the cursing, cheeseburger incident etc. Then went off on the Jets about the Braylon DUI saying he should be benched but doesn't care that 15 other players that calender year were busted for DUIs and didnt miss a snap. Then blasted the Jets for the Holmes plane/ipod incident for not turning it off which in fact he did but refused to correct himself. He also went off on Woody Johnson when he called out the commisioner for his psuedo coin flip to decide who gets the first home game (which alot of Jet fans backed Woody for that) On the other hand let the whole Jacobs throwing his helmet in the stands at the Colt game slide saying it slipped pretty poor excuse. Never got on Antrel for guarenteeing a playoff spot they choked. if that was a jet hed have a field day. Coughlin cursing out the media he had no problem with that saying that the Giants allowed it cause NFL Films have to clear everything with the team. Any incident with the Giants he justified with the Jets he goes in attack mode. Also took some jab at the Jets with the Giants owenr on air about Hard Knocks and the headlines in the off season and then Francessa said well you guys just care about the Headlines in season which never really happened. he is having a hard time that NY might slowly start to become a Jet city.
