Pardon The Interruption: During the intro segment, Kornheiser mentions that Wayne only got 1 catch and was distraught.....Wilbon said Manning needed to target him, brushed off Kornheiser's assertion that Revis was blanketing Wayne and then said: "Please...every time Revis ran his mouth this season he got his butt kicked." Question: Does ESPN do drug-testing of their on-air commentators ? Just askin'......LOL
People remember one catch in week 2, where Moss had to make one of the greatest catches I've ever seen with one hand to beat him... with a bad leg. Its ESPN. Why do you think you're going to get good reporting out of them. They have 3 good analysts, and their job is to disagree.
Stat floating around twitter: Since week 6 Revis has given up 11 receptions for 153 yards and no Tds. That is friggin insane, he won't win Defensive player of the year, but damn... Hard to name a player who has made a bigger impact, just doesn't show in the stats so the moronic voters don't know what he's doing.
Hard to believe that our pass defense sucks so much when we have a cornerback who literally makes the best opposing receiver a complete nonfactor. 11 receptions for 153 yards in 11 games? That's 1 reception for 14 yards a game.
Found the article. Nice job by KC Joyner spelling out the stats. Revis was nothing short of dominant since week 6. It's unfortunate his hammy injury hampered him in the beginning of the season. The splits pre and post injury are remarkable. http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/4049/football-scientist-ryan-is-right-about-revis
I still want a kick-ass bigtime safety but if we could someone convince Ashamgoua (sp.?) to come to the team on a reduced contract, look out.
Someone tried to argue with me how Revis has been exposed as a fraud because he's doing 'worse' than last year. I countered with the fact that he's arguably better this year with a complete lack of pass rush. Last year people found out. This year, people are respecting.
The bad year shit is hilarious to me. He has a bad hamstring, and plays like a very good corner, but not the godlike one he is. He then recovers and becomes the same CB he was last year. But he'd see more targets if the pass rush was the same as last year. There was an article that studied how because the Jets were getting to the QB quicker, he'd force the ball to his first read more often. Now that the QB has a little more time, he can move to his 2nd and 3rd read and get the completion. I wouldn't be shocked if on 3rd down the play call is designed to ignore revis completely and focus on Cro and the slot because they have that much time.
Well that was clearly Manning's gameplan. And rightfully so. A dominant passrusher or even DE that plays like the Ellis of old will make this defense scary again.
Good little segment today on NFLN isolating Revis on several plays vs. Indy. Pretty cool. On the one sack that Manning took, he was looking at Wayne all the way and decided it was better to eat the ball. Praise Revis.
It's not disagreeing though....Wilbon seems totally clueless since he left the WaPo....Revis had 1 bad game, 4 or 5 good games, and 6 or 7 unreal games. So HTF does Wilbon extrapolate that to 'getting his butt kicked' ? If Wilbon were white.....LOL.
i have been led astray and i've been walking down the wrong paths in life, but i am all the better for it as it has led me to this house of worship and the real and tangible god that it is dedicated to. i give homage to Revis Christ, please accept my belated arrival.
I say Cromartie and Revis change shirts on random plays so Brady doesn't know who he's passing away from.
