Coleman has his strong suits (blitz packages, special teams)....but if he's asked to produce in coverage....we are fucked. Jesus, even Chad Henne burned Coleman.

I'd rather see Kyle Wilson covering the Colts slot receiver.....i know that's a risk in itself...but i don't trust Coleman to cover anybody effectively....and you KNOW, Manning will find Coleman when he's making his reads. Take a look at post #15 earlier in the thread if you need a memory refresher.

I agree with all of this. Mike Pettine might do as well. People should realise that a member of the coaching staff saying something to the media does not necessarily mean that said coach actually believes what he's saying, just that he has a reason and a purpose in saying it. Maybe to build confidence in Coleman, maybe to try and persuade the Colts to spend as much time as possible studying Coleman's weakness in coverage because they plan to use Wilson, maybe for a whole bunch of different reasons.

Fuck this, seriously. I don't know why TGGers fucking blame Coleman for getting lit up against PEYTON MANNING. He should have never been expected to be the #2 guy in that game. He is an average #3 cb and or good #4 at that. People act he shouldn't be in the league or something.

he wasn't the #2 guy....he was covering Austin Collie there...who was the #3 WR behind Wayne and Garcon.

He was at the Nets game tonight I went too....and the crowd booed when they showed him on big screen.

I didn't, but it was kind of funny.

Pretty sure Minnesota has CB's that are worse then Drew Coleman. Their #3, 4 and 5 guys are terrible. Coleman is average or just under average, thus a plus in the nickel and dime packages.

I have to agree with the OP. But you know this whole coaching staff's schtick by now, they praise everyone publicly.

I wish Coleman were 2 inches taller and a slightly better cover guy. Then, he'd be one of my favorite Jets. I love the way he plays physically. He's a good tackler for a defensive back, and he's a very good playmaker in terms of having a nose for the ball. That's important.

But he really just isn't a very good cover guy at all. I like him on the field, but he's also easy pickings for opposing cornerbacks. And his shortcomings get magnified because of the strengths of the other cornerbacks.

Drew Coleman must have had the naked pictures of Rex Ryan's wife. Now that those have been released, I have no idea why he's still here.

    This x 10.

The guy's rarely out of position. But, like Lowery, he can't get his damn head around.

On a side note, I've been more and more impressed with KW's ability to get his head around as of late.

Drew Coleman reminds me of Otis Smith. Makes big highlight reel plays, can't cover a paper bag.

the last few weeks especially it seems like every big chunk of yardage that teams get come against 30. Seems like once they find a matchup with him the QB just abuses him.

Yikes. That had to hurt. Maybe he'll be motivated to prove everyone wrong.
