Like I said, on about 90+% of the time. Everytime a pass doesn't get completed in his direction, he is a difference maker.

Please name a better #2 corner in the NFL.

I see you cannot name the games where he has been a difference maker.

The argument isn't about best #2 CBs, it's about him being overrated and when you make a comment like he has been a difference maker 90+% of the time he is vastly overrated.

Revis and Cromartie dont get the ball thrown there way much. People wanna look at interceptions on whether a corner is good or not. Almost every team in the nfl would love to have Cromartie as their #2.

C'mon Junc, u seriously think Cromartie coming to the Jets made our secondary much much worse? Does that mean Lito out played Cromartie?

Who on earth said our blitz schemes weren't working last year? We didn't have the best pass rush in the league, but u really need to go back watch the 09 games to know that when Rex sent the house, it almost always worked, something that hasn't worked this year. U can't associate the pass rush failure with secondary's play. They both compliment each other. U can have a great pass rush, but if ur secondary can't cover, you won't succeed and vice versa.

Also, we don't have Kerry back there either. Yes, he was a wuss in tackling, but his coverage skills were pretty good. Kerry's departure is what made our secondary weak since we didn't have a reliable player to step up.

Nah Rex straight up benched Lito. I was a lil puzzled by it but it didn't matter who played opposite Revis that day

nobody has claimed him to be a shut down corner. He has given up some big plays, but think about this; Revis Island is ignored on about every play. This leaves Cromartie's side of the field. He gets tons of looks, and every time the QB opts to throw at the TE or the slot receiver, Cromartie is doing his job. Basically, if Cromartie makes a mistake, he gets punished for it. If Revis makes a mistake, he may even get away with it simply because QBs avoid throwing it in his direction while making his receiver the 3rd read or even the 4th read.

Those who claim Cromartie is a shut down corner, are overrating him. He isn't, but he is probably the best #2 corner out there and can be a #1 on many teams. You will find out soon enough.

He has the physical gifts but can be very lazy sometimes...

Week 1 against the Ravens he could've ran his interception all the way for a touchdown but instead allowed the Ravens kicker to lightly bump him out of bounds. We would've won that game if he went all the way.

I don't think it is just him, there are many factors but his leass than stellar play is one of those factors.

Our blitzes stopped working early to mid season in 2009, did we get to QBs from time to time? of course just like we have this year but we did not have a great pass rush from about midseason 2009 on.

I think our excellent coverage last year helped mask the pass rush problems a bit later in the year.

isn't it amazing how everyone wanted kerry gone and he was this big problem?

Saying things like he has been a difference maker 90% of the time overrates him. Sure he has made plays and had good games but overall he's had an average season. I have not been impressed w/ him. he is an incredible athlete and a big playmaker, for someone w/ those skills to be targeted as much as he has why hasn't he made more big plays?

I hope he steps up, I know he has the ability. All my reg season complaints will be tossed aside if he comes up big for us in postseason.

The problem with reasoning with this clown is he assumes that Cro replacing Lito is the only variable that is involved comparing last year's D with this year's, as your reference to Rhodes alludes to. There are others, not an unimportant one being that other teams' OC's have lots of game film of the Jet blitz packages, and work to counter them, which in turn has led to a general decrease in their use by the Jets.

I also think the LB's are a factor here, and seem less capable defending the pass than they did last year.

But the coverage hole left by Rhodes's departure has clearly been a factor, and is a factor having nothing to do with whether Cromartie is or is not an upgrade over Lito. The consideration about the current roster that most detracts from viewing the FO's work favorably this past off season is that the hole left by Rhodes's departure was not better filled.

I have a TV in my office but the sound was down so I didn't hear the segment but they were discussing the jets problems against the pass on NFL Live and they were showing a clip of Cromartie getting abused by Wallace. They usually re-air these episodes later in the day, if someone can watch it and let us know what they say I'd appreciate it.

Don't forget that they essentially got Joe McKnight and a 2011 7th for Kerry Rhodes (they had to throw in a 2010 6th, but that's a low value pick) and Rhodes was paid something like $5 million in 2010 which is way above this value so they saved money. That's a lot of money if you're on a budget and I'll bet they were on a budget.

Yeah, but we also got pressure on the quarterback in 2009, so you're not comparing like with like.

If he picks off Manning 3 times on Saturday, I'd say he's pretty underrated.

We stopped getting consistent pressure on opposing QBs midway through 2009.

A lot of the QBs we played were still playing fast, anticipating pressure. That hasn't been the case this year.

Of course that is just my recollection and I may be mistaken.
