hey guys i gotta question, my dad and I are going to the game on sunday, we plan on getting there probably an hour or two early and we were wondering if their are any public tailgate parties that go on? something like pay $10 and eat and drink as much as you want, that sort of thing...we'd rather do something like that than pay ridiculous prices on shit-food inside the stadium. another question, do the Jersey state troopers check ID's outside? i'm not 21 for another month and i dont wanna get a third underage. i dont plan on getting drunk, but i dont wanna get busted wiht a beer in hand. also, you think i'd be able to get away with smoking a blunt outside? even if i play it off as if i was smoking a cigar??
Without giving a long winded response....bring a cooler with the appropriate amount of beverages in it, and if you want a low maintenance tailgate, buy some heroes or something from your local deli and a couple of hors de oevery type shit and make friends with the people around you. You're asking the wrong person because I ALWAYS bring way too much shit, but if my usual crew isn't making the game, I go around and offer my stuff to anyone within earshot of our car. Cooler full of beer and deli sandwiches are always easy and relatively cheap compared to inside the stadium. No one's checking IDs. These parking lots are pretty lawless; have fun. Smoking a blunt shouldn't be a problem. I would just make sure the people around you in the lot are not 10-year-old kids. And, that they seem like party-type of people. Most in the parking lot are. If you ask me though, you need at least 4 hours in the parking lot. I'll be there by 8:30 the LATEST on Sunday. Have fun. I'm usually by the iZod Center.
One thing I forgot to add....couple of years back there used to be a group of people who brought in army type vehicles with kegs and a DJ booth, if you can believe that. They called themselves Troop 16H or C or something of the sorts. I remember their tailgate being pretty sick. They were on the East side of the Parking Lot by Rt. 3 to the south of Rt. 120. I don't know if those guys are still there, but they could party pretty good. I'd still say you're better off taking care of business yourselves. That way you know what you got, because once you're in that parking lot you're there for the day. Edit: Wow, just googled it and they're still there. They are apparently affiliated with Jets Insider, which (surprise, surprise) I saw the last two posts in their main forum were from a fella named ~~Kelly (LOL). Troop 16H. I will say one thing, me and the wife partied with some peeps from JI the Saturday night before the game in New Orleans (Ryan's Pub) and had a great time. Not bad people at all and the few tailgates of theirs I stumbled into were a riot.
