His pass yesterday wasn't really that bad. The cb had great coverage, and cut off Edwards' route. He can and will throw another pass or 2 this post season.
He CAN throw a pass but you don't want him throwing regularly. He should only be throwing when it is a complete surprise to the D, take away that element of surprise and we'll see many turnovers.
He's not taking a shot at me, he just makes himself look foolish by wanting more Brad Smith passes and believing b/c Brad was an great COLLEGE QB that means he must have the skills to be a good passer in the NFL.
once again, you're wrong. I said Brad Smith should be trusted by the coaching staff to throw more often than once a season.....perhaps 3-5 passes...or something along those lines. I didn't say he was the next Drew Brees.
Don't make things up, you said you wanted him to throw alot more and I am the one who mentioned he should throw around 3 times a season. he has already thrown twice, is 3 that far off? you were calling for him to throw alot more than 3-5 in order to try to make the WC more efective and keep D's on their toes. The problem w/ that is the more he throws the more turnovers we'll have b/c D's will be prepared for him passing the ball. This is not the Big 12 anymore, guys are alot bigger, faster, stronger. passes he got away w/ in college he cannot get away w/ in the NFL. passes from non QBs are gadget pakys, we run too many of them already. To ask Brad to start throwing every week or 2 would be a disaster.
who's making shit up? I said Smith should throw a few more passes to offset the option run plays in the seminole...because he's got the QB skillset. And you decided to put words in my mouth by saying I thought Smith was an nfl pro QB. Learn to read, junc.
I will never forget that pass to Cotch in the AFCCG. He can certainly throw a couple of times a season, and maybe once or twice in the playoffs
He has a TD pass this year so I'll go with yes. If Braylon cut to the middle on the deep throw that would've been 6. Just like the announcer said Braylon didn't declare his route so Smith just had to throw it up basically.
He ran the spread option in college which makes his passing stats pretty much irrelevant to evaluating his NFL ability. He does not have anywhere near enough accuracy to even be considered as #3 QB in the NFL. He does all of his jobs well, including running the ball out of the wildcat. I have no problem with how he has been used to pass the ball so far this year because it is very limited. I am sure they have a few plays that they have been working on all year ready for the playoffs. I expect if they get to the pats in the playoffs we will see a pretty creative Brad Smith pass.
No, you said he should be throwing alot more. This was your quote: One every couple of games would be 8 passes, he has 2- that is a heck of alot more than 2 passes. You are making up so much stuff you don't even know what you posted anymore. Just admit you are wrong, as usual, and move along. Yes, what a pass that was about 10 yards behind him. if it was a decent pass we score a Td on that play. He threw a jump ball to Keller deep in our opponents territory. Let's get serious.
whoaaaaa...8 passes over 3-5 passes. Batten down the hatches. I fucking told you.....I hate the wildcat. If it were up to me, I would throw that package out the window.....but it's not my call, junc. Your boy, Schotty, loves the wildcat. So if Schotty is going to continue to use that package...and we know he will.....at least he could use it more effectively. Which would include passing it a little more. Not a shitload more....like you seem to think I'm suggesting......but a little more to put the fear in opposing DCs. Running it all the time is a waste, imo. I don't know how that sounds unreasonable to you......but then again....I don't know how you come up with some of your bullshit reasoning anyway.
Come on MB you are better than this. 8 passes from a non QB is a HUGE amount especially for a guy who has 6 career passes in 5 seasons. I like brian, I know he does a good job and is a good OC but that doesn't mean I think he is perfect. He has his flaws and one of them is that he calls too many trick plays. I hate the overuse of the WC so I don't want more WC plays called and I certainly do not want Brad Smith throwing 8 times a year or so. You call it bullshit reasoning I call it common football sense. It's easy to blame the OC when an offense struggles but there's more to it than playcalling, execution is the key and during our bad games the OC takes some of the blame but the OC cannot make a QB make the right reads or make good throws, he cannot make the OL block well, he cannot make the RBs burst through holes or make WRs catch the ball. The average fan will blame the OC.
