Pettis caught his own pass after it was deflected up  (9:30) Austin Pettis passed to Austin Pettis for 2 yards.
Nice to see the Aztecs return to a bowl game and blow away the Naval Academy. As long as Brady Hoke is at SDSU they are going to be good. They played TCU probably better then any other team this year and were a freak play away from beating Missouri. Throw in they got royally screwed against BYU and they were very close to being a 1 or 2 loss team.
Toledo dominates first half, FIU dominates second. FIU kicks FG to make it a 7 point lead, but Toledo drives down the field, including a 4th down conversion and scores the TD. Bring in the kicker and tie it, right? Nope. With 1:14 left, Toledo goes for 2 and Owens, who'd been horrendous, hits a receiver in the endzone. 32-31 Toledo. Kicking off to FIU now. WTF? They squibbed it, handing FIU excellent field position. Ball almost at midfield.
4th and 17, FIU tries a hook and ladder, and it looks like they came up a yard short. But it's very close regarding where he went out of bounds.
^ The ref on the field ruled it a first down, a bad call. The replay wasn't enough to overturn it. They kept it. FIU wins on a field goal as clock expires.
one of the fastest games of the season The triple options, run after run, only four scores (two TDs and two FGs), only one review, fewer timeouts, etc. Second half turnovers are what did the Yellow Jackets in. 14-7 Air Force final
Air Force is my favorite college football team. Loved watching them tonight. That 34 yard fake punt was brilliant...well done guys.
I put on the West Virginia game just after 8:00 'cause I thought it started at 8. Turns out I missed nothing. These bowl games so far have been awful.
As an NC State grad, I'm happy but West Virginia practically handed that game to the Pack. I imagine it was ugly for anyone not interested in either team. Nate Irving could be a good pick in the 3rd or 4th round that will probably be a better player than that.
He'd have to play inside linebacker on the Jets. I could see him being a standout defender on teams like Tampa, Indy, or Atlanta.
Irving may be better suited for a 4-3 team, as you indicated. I still think he could work in the middle of a 3-4 team. Some people don't realize Irving played OLB before his accident. Should be an outstanding ST player and quality back-up from the start.
Gary Pinkel letting the clock run instead of calling a timeout. Classic. He had all three timeouts and could've stopped it at 1:35. Instead, he let them run another 35 seconds or so off. correction: espn made a mistake. They only had two. Still a little nuts, IMO.
That was awesome. Iowa wins, 27-24. Actually had another TD, but ref ruled player down inside the 1 and they kneeled it out.
Illinois drubs Baylor. Game was never close. 38-14 final, it looks like This after Maryland wrecked ECU, 51-20. That game also wasn't really ever close. OK State/Arizona starting in 3 minutes or so.
At least OK State's offense is fun to watch... This bowl season has been pretty bad. I can't wait until there's a playoff system.
