The road to a Superbowl MUST go through Foxboro IMO. We aren't going to be able to skate around them or pray that they fall before we get to them. If we want to win it all we need to do it by beating those bastards in Foxboro. We need to go through them then the AFC Champ & Superbowl will just be the icing on the cake.

I think this team mirrors the 2004 Red Sox squad (as hard as that is to hear) in many ways. There was an ESPN Boston columnist who set up that metaphor prior to the NE massacre this year. But I think that is how it has to happen. I do consider us a "cursed" franchise by only winning the 1st SB and with a lot of talent since then not being able to lock up another ring, all very similar to pre-2004 Red Sox. Patriots are obviously the Yankees in this tale. Winning seemingly every year and destroying us as we crawl up to Superbowl aspirations.

As it happened in 2004 in the ALCS, there is a very good chance we are matched up against the favored Patriots, with them having the home-field advantage, but we need to beat them as the Sox did and shock the world with all the momentum against us to propel us to win the Superbowl.

The road to Dallas has to go through Foxboro at some point, and I hope it does. Redemption will be sweet, and I'll be paying the obscene amount of $$ for tickets and heading up there to witness in person as I also did in 2004 for Game 7 of the ALCS.

A week of rest for a football player at this point in the season is big no matter who you have to play in the playoffs.

Because you have a chance of not being the team facing NE after a weeks rest.

If we can't figure out how to get pressure on the qb we aren't going anywhere anyway

Ya outta ya mind wit dis. The Patriots are going to be tough to defeat no matter how much rest they get. This week of rest shit is out of control. We have Jets fans shitting their pants over the Patriots getting extra rest and then we have people (sometimes the same people) stating that they are happy the Jets didn't win the East and get a bye because they think the team cannot win with extra rest.

Read what I wrote in post #2.

Somebody later wrote, "The only reason I would want the Jets to get the 5th seed is so we wont have to play the Pats till the AFCG."

I responded how I responded because of the guy's language. He made it seem like the Jets could not possibly meet NE until the AFCCG if the Jets are the 5 seed. I then pointed out that the Jets could be the 5 seed and still have to play NE in the Divisional Round.

To "avoid" NE until the AFCCG:
    Jets win vs BUF
    BAL win vs CIN
    PIT lose vs CLE

    BAL becomes the 2nd seed
    Jets become 5th seed
    PIT becomes 6th seed

    THEN:
Jets win vs 4th seed (KC, IND or JAX)
PIT win vs 3rd seed (KC or IND)

    THEN:
Jets win vs 2nd seed (BAL)
Jets then play the winner of PIT vs NE in the AFCCG

**This is only for fantasy purposes only bacause that's the only place this scenario will happen**

Obviously there is no guarantee we get out of the 1st round. However, regardless of who we play, I'd like to avoid NE for as long as possible. I'd really hate to be the team that plays them, in NE, coming off the bye. I don't think we'd lose anything like 45-3, but I think we'd lose for sure. Let another team take a shot at them. At the very least, maybe they wear them out a little.

I don't care who we play, where we play them, or when we play them! Bottom line is, you have to keep winning if you want to make it to the big dance, plain and simple! Enough of this talk about avoiding certain teams like the Pats or who ever, fuck that! If you want to be the best, you have to win out and beat everyone who gets in your way, no matter who it is!

Let the cards fall where they may. The road to the SB is going through NE no matter what seed the Jets get. Want to be the best you have to beat the best.

the jets (staff & players) need to get their heads outta their assholes if we play the pats again.

they looked so calm, cool, and ready to win. then after 8 minutes...it looked like they all were going to shit themselves.

I want to avoid the Colts, not because I don't think that we can beat them, but because in their building, Manning and company will get every call.

I highly doubt if the Steelers end up as the 6 seed that they would lose to the Chiefs... Which is what I think he was trying to say, meaning we as the 5 seed would avoid the Pats in the Second Round.

My ideal playoff situation is this:

    WILDCARD

    Steelers vs. Chiefs

    Jets vs. Jaguars

    DIVISIONAL

    Steelers vs. Patriots

    Jets vs. Baltimore

I think that's the best possible scenario. Sure we'll have to beat Baltimore at home, but I think Rex'll be able to fire the boys up for that one. First game of the season, last game of the season, revenge, etc.

If we win that game, we either get a home game against the Steelers or the Patriots after a physical game for the AFCCG. Can't ask for more than that.

In this scenario #3 and #6 seeds have the same record, perhaps #6 will have a better record (they do now). Pitt can beat KC, I don't see this as far fetched at all. So, #6 has got a pretty good chance.

Both are completely different teams playing on completely different levels right now.

Week 2 is a long time ago as was evidenced by the 2nd game.

Yeah, but it was quite a while back. Pats look scary right now. If we pick up a pair of good wins in play-offs, we will be much better prepared to face them. I just think if we get them in divisional round, there is just no way a team that has played that well lately and just annihilated us a few weeks back will lose to us in their first play-off game at home. I don't think anyone wants to play NE at this point. If we get #5 seed, we get a better chance to go deep in the tournament, like we did last year. Not a guarantee of anything of course, but #6 seed means we won't repeat even last year's run.

If we can't beat NE, we don't deserve to win the superbowl.

If we win the SuperBowl without having to go through the Pats, I think we still will have deserved it.

I know what you mean though.
