I always like stories of players that come back from a tragic situation and turn their life around for the better. Robert Quinn was one..Nate Irving is another. Nate Irving almost lost his life, it's amazing he survived, a miracle. Pictures of the SUV he was driving, nobody should have survived. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl...a=X&ei=dMoTTarGEMOinAfJk7SzDg&ved=0CD4Q9QEwBw http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...sdXjDQ&usg=AFQjCNHBqzEQP6iWkI_T2XzBgZDbcms-ew
It's truly amazing that he was able to come back from a collapsed lung, broken ribs, a separated shoulder and a compound fracture in his leg and put on his BEST collegiate football season at NC State. I mean, look at that SUV, he shouldn't be alive, yet he's put on a tackling clinic this year and is one of biggest risers in the draft! The ACC honored both Irving and BC's Mark Herzlich with this season's Brian Piccolo Award, which they both truly deserve. From literally staring in the face of death, they both amazingly returned to the football field a year later. They may not be superstars or impact players at the next level, but NO ONE will question the heart, will, or determination of those guys...
Guys don't forget the Champs Sports bowl today. Keep an eye on Nate Irving. Looking forward to seeing Robert Sands for WVU!
Insight Bowl late tonight ---- will be watching Tyler Sash SS & Christian Ballard (possible 3-4 DE) for Iowa.
And Aldon Smith DE/OLB he will probably come out next year but will be great. and of course Adrian Clayborn.
But is Clayborn a 3-4 DE? After the 2009 college season, I said yes,.....but now I look at him like Greg Romeus from Pitt - moreso as the DE in the 4-3.
He can play both. Even though Greg Romeus is 6'6 270, he's more of a finesse player. Clayborn is one of the best run defending defensive linemen in the country - he's battled double teams all season long and still had a lot of success. Karl Klug's had a big time season because of Clayborn. He's another guy to keep an eye on in tonight's game. If he can put on weight, he'll be a solid player in the 3-4.
