I'm sure he's got enough dough to retire. You're right though, if he loves the game of football and wants to coach it would be in his best interest to take a step back and join a team as a coordinator or positional coach.

We'll find out soon enough I think.

I like the idea but his antics are the last thing the Jets need.

Also, accepting a LB coaching job is a double demotion from a HC job. I don't know if he would go for that.

    No.

Gholston is now a DL. He is not a linebacker. He will not be coached by any LB position coach.

You joined this site in January '03 and have only made 34 posts. I'd say you've missed quite a bit.

Gholston is working with Westhoff in hope of taking Folk's kicking duties. The reasoning was that he'd make a perfect kicker since he's such a pussy

    Cakes,

I actually read the site every day. However, I usually do not have any "new" info to bring to contribute. However, the last few weeks of reading have brought me to a point that I feel I have to respond to some of the nonsense that I am reading.

    Okay, cool.

Why do you think Singletary to the Jets next year is nonsensical?

hes got the track record....the relationship w rex and halfway decent LBs to work with....you'd just have to wonder if he'd want to pick up a positional coaching role...but i'd but all for it

Well, maybe to avoid someone taking a group picture of a woman's cootch and a coach's bung hole during an impromptu get together at Rex's house?

Seriuosly though, after the debacle in SF, Singletary needs to take a year off and relax. JMHO of course, but I think he was very close to a Ditka type meltdown. We thought Brian Cox would be a great coach because of his ability as a player and his passion. He wasn't. I personally think a guy like Sutton brings some stability and some much needed matururity to this CS.

I'm sure few if any would agree.

Sorry - its not really the bringing him in to coach that I had the problem with. Its more in the sky is falling looking for scapegoats. I mean was sutton the problem last year? Our pass rush is the problem and the olb's are primarily to blame but they spend most of the time with the DL during the season. Is sutton to blame for the play of David Harris?

I'm not a sky is falling guy. That's easy to see.

I just know that singletary is more of a Rex Ryan guy than Sutton, and Mike clearly can give more insight to the position than Sutton can.

Singletary has worked with the best and has molded others into top LBs. Why can't he come here and improve the CS?

In coaching its about hiring who you know. Rex and Mike are both from Baltimore. This is an easy puzzle to piece together.

Mike brings that same kind of focus and discipline, and maybe more so.

We can't have what we've seen in SF ruin who he was as a LB coach.
