Well, Taylor will go bye bye after this season. I think they have to break up the Thomas-Pace duo. Getting rid of one of them for a better pass rusher would make sense.

Anyone that wouldn't endorse this move seems to be forgetting that position coaches and head coaches are two totally different things. Bub fucking Sutton is our current LB coach and you don't think Singletary could do a better job than him?

I'm not even sure how Sutton retained his employment from the Mangini era, to be honest.

Passing over Singletary to keep Sutton would be a horrible judgement call, imo.

If he is willing to take the job there is no question in my mind that he would be an upgrade to the coaching staff.

With Ryan & Singletary on the same staff, I'm sure Ryan knows what Singletary is capable of. Not sure how Rex evaluates Sutton at the moment though.

Don't see Singletary jumping backwards from HC to Linebacker's coach immediately. He'll probably sit out a season and see if he can get another HC or defensive coordinator job. Doubt those offers will come but Singletary has to at least wait it out for a season to see what interests he draws from other teams.

There is a reason Sutton is the longest tenured coach on the Jets. He is a good coach. He took all the blame for Mangini's screw ups when he was DC. I would bet the farm that he isn't the reason J Taylor is trying to cover WR's, TE's and RB's 20 yards downfield.

What makes anyone think that Singletary would be such a slam dunk improvement? Because he was a great player? Frankly, that doesn't mean a thing.

I guess we'll find out next year. I'm not sure Singletary would want to be a position coach. He may even think he should be rehired as a HC. Repoorts were they asked for his resignation and he refused, so they fired him.

The fact they SF felt they could not even wait for one more game to can him raises questions in my mind. I wonder if he is... a bit too whavcky to be a coach at this point.

He has already been a slam dunk as LB coach... I know you haven't managed to go through this whole thread without seeing one person mention that he was the Ravens LB coach while Rex was DC.

I've never known what its like to be wrong all the time about football.

That's why you're around. So I can watch and guess what that must feel like.

Yes, he was a slam dunk as an LB coach. Of course, having B Scott, R Lewis and T Suggs doesn't matter much, they aren't any better than our LB corp. Is he going to make Gholston a football player? Sutton can't.

He might not have to worry about Gladys Gholston. That turd should be gone after the season.

He'll have Scott and Harris here. Its not like he'll be working with shit. And Gholston is a full time DL now. He should never have been a LB.

He is from the same coaching tree and shares Rex's beliefs. Its a good fit. Just ask Ray Lewis what Singletary did for his production.

So we'll have someone who drops his pants in the locker room, and a guy that does foot fetish porn ... I'M ALL FOR IT!

I do agree that having a HOF Player / great positional coach will only get Harris to that next level, I expected more out of him this season (lots of missed tackles this season), Singletary will improve most of the fundamentals in Harris's game

Can't play with him, can't win with him, can't coach him. Can't do it.

I'd be very surprised if Mike's agent doesn't already have a message from Tanny asking him to call him before making any decisions

no, he wouldn't prefer to do it, but if nobody offers him anything better he would certainly willfully take the job rather than not work at all.
