good post, but you are like the 4th or 5th person in the last few days to forget that herm made the playoffs his first 2 yrs. i know most of us like to forget herm's latter years, but it wasn't THAT long ago.
Herm never made it past the divisional round. If Rex gets us to the AFC Championship again than he's already surpassed Herm's first two seasons.
If we do not win the SB in Dallas in Feb 2011 then it just turns into another UNSUCCESSFUL season making it 43 years of unsuccessful football & still counting :jets:
Heh, I kind of feel bad for jumping down the OP's throat, cause he could just be venting after a tough loss, I for one love to vent it makes me feel better, but in the end every Jet fan is going to have to shut up and accept Rex and his style for as long as he's here.
For years and years we were the league's fucking doormat, and now the same supposed fans can't handle a little confidence. I mean, really, which way do you want it? We've never been one of the league's "teams" and (got news for ya), we never will be. Win or lose. We're either laughingstock doormats (hell, not even lovable losers) or arrogant pricks. Sorry, guys, I'll take arrogant pricks, because, hey, at least we must be winning. Sure, beats the alternative, no?
Playoffs The Jets are in the tournament! Who cares how? Rex is for the media. He is great copy. The rest is nonsense. Enjoy the ride. This Jet fan since 1964 has sat out so many postseasons that anytime they make it is a cause for celebration. They are playing with house money. Super Bowl or not we will all be here next season hoping for a run.
EXACTLY - maybe it is because I do not live in the tri-state area anymore but I really think this REX brash talk is way overblown. He was a lot bolder is his talk, last year playoff time than at any other time. He made some statements on Hard Knocks - but it is basically the media and public perception that keeps this ongoing Rex's arrogance and Jet's bravado hyped up alot more than it should be.
outside of the 2nd New England game, the Jets have been in every single game this year with a chance to win. When is the last time Jet fans can say that? The QB is in only in his 2nd year, they've got a chance to improve by two wins from last year with a win over Buffalo, and they are in the post season regardless. That was a tough loss yesterday, but how many times have we seen the jets win games this year that we're used to seeing them lose? Plenty. they are going in the right direction, it's a nice change.
last time I checked the Jets haven't been eliminated from the playoffs yet. do I like our chances? ehh, not really. i think we can win a game, maybe 2. but if we wind up running into the pats I think our chances are slim. even if we somehow did avoid them and someone beat them for us you got to figure at some point our lack of pass rush is just going to kill us. to have it not effect you in 4 straight games is gonna be almost impossible especially when you're going against great QB's. i'm still thrilled with the direction this organization is headed and I'm confident we will do what it takes to fill our holes.
I wish we would just shut up and let our play on the field do the talking for us. Let's face it, if we just shut up and win Rex won't have to tell everyone how good we are, they'll be saying it for us.
Ditto. From one old timer to another. All those on the edge of the cliff after yesterday need to have lived through the 70's and late 80's to early 90's and then see what it really feels like to be "mediocre" or "below average."
