Yankees Jets Giants Packers Nets In that order. (Between the strike year, and just before last year, the Jets were above the Yankees. My heart has gone back to baseball though.) I grew up within sight of Shea too. I was born and raised in Flushing, but my father was a die-hard Yankees fan (along with the Jets and Giants, so I just followed along). I do root for the Mets if the Yankees are out of the race though. I'm a home town fan. I don't actively follow the Mets and I don't closely follow the Giants, but I root for their success.
Jets//Yankees,FSU for college FB and basketball, pro ball is a joke and i'm sorry but i just cant watch hockey it is so boring
Yankee/Jet I've been a Yankees fan since I was five. When I first watched a football game (I grew up in Europe) when I was 10, it was a Jets-Patriots game. I always wanted to support a NY football team, so I chose the Jets. Since then I've been a massive Jets fan, and I cannot take my eyes off of the game! I'm always being told by my friends that "it has to be Yankees/Giants or Mets/Jets" but half of my friends are Mets/Giants, so it's kind of stupid! :jets:
It's Not a myth.... If you're younger you might not get it but, the older franchises usually have the same fans... The Yankees, Giants and Rangers were the older NY teams. /thread
Jets and Mets go together. There are a lot of reasons why, among them going back to when the Jets were in Queens. That's not to say that a Jets fan has to root for the Mets or something, but if you're talking about grouping the fans, Jets go with Mets. That's just how it is.
The Jets winning a superbowl or the Mets winning a world series will be 10 times sweeter than any Yankees or Giants victory.... the next Jets superbowl win will lead to NYC burning down
The Dolphins would match up more sensibly with the Marlins/Mets rivalry. They are going to be the Miami Marlins in a couple of years after all. Jets/Mets just makes sense to me.
I think it's a psychological thing. The Yankees are always the front page media front runners and the Mets are the back story underdogs... what does that sound like? Same thing with the Rangers and Islanders. That's why I'm Mets, Jets, Islanders.
