If it wasn't too difficult to get a sack in this D, we would be leading the league in sacks. People around here dismiss getting a sack so easily and take away the credit.

Care to try explaining it a little more in-depth, then?

I understand what players fit what defensive scheme better from the fan/your perspective. I was simply saying I wish a reporter would ask Pettine who he would he rather have start, as well as be in certain packages if they were both healthy so we can truly see what Pettine thinks about Lowery as a safety. Although you might think he would rather start dig because he is higher on the depth chart, being the 3rd string SS doesn't mean much.

Contrarily to what you mentioned about our safeties blitzing on 3rd and long, I think if we had a better coverage safety playing strong safety, we would drop him back into coverage and blitz our nickel or dime back a lot more.

    Fair enough.
I don't remember us doing that less without a better covering SS. Two of Coleman's sacks came last week. We've seen Cole and Wilson blitz a lot as well. If Lowery was more comfortable in his role then we might see that more. As it stands, he's still learning his role as Leonhard's/Smith's replacement.

Dwight Lowery is one of my favorite players on the Jets, both for reasons on and off the field.

I really hope he sticks at safety, not only because he seems a perfect fit at the position and not only because we need him to due to injuries, but it will also make us much more flexible going into the draft and free agency.

Always thought he was too slim to stay at safety, but he looks good out there. He must have filled out

Pick 6 was amazing and he looks great in coverage. I just wish he'd go for the tackle more often near the goal line instead of the strip. That's two TDs in two weeks he's given up by going for the ball instead of just trying to bring the ball carrier down.

Happy for the INT and a fan of Lowery at FS...

BUT he missed 2 tackles to allow TDs and had an abortion while covering Knox on a TD... the guy has to become a better tackler!

Great pick 6, but he had some awful plays out there in coverage and missed tackles.

He's still learning how to play safety. After he was bounced around from #2 to nickel to dime to nickel to #2 to nickel to dime to safety, he's going to need a couple of games before we can actually know what we have with him.

His tackling has always been a problem. Yea, yea, I know, two sacks but the first Bears TD was a perfect example of what is wrong with him as a tackler. He thinks he can go for the strip far too much than he should and part of it is him not being able to wrap up properly. I'm hoping tackling drills are going to be a big part of this week's practices.

Drew Coleman can't cover, hence he is used as a blitzer more often. He has is much faster than the LBs and DLs, who occupy the OL, leaving Drew one on one with the RB, and somtimes no one. The problem? We have every WR and TE on one on one coverage, meaning even the safeties go one on one with WRs. So we can't do it too often and thats the hard part about it.

Hell, how on earth can Jason Taylor line up against Matt Forte?? Cutler was drooling over that matchup.
