28 sacks and 7 interceptions. I think if he had done this, it would justify his signing. SARCASM! I've been thinking your very same question as I watch people bitch about his "lack of production." It's odd.
Occasional push of the pocket, with his track record anyways. But I agree more of the passrush blame should go to Pace, BT, and the DL in nickel/dime, if that's what you're saying. I've said it before, we need new 3-tech's for our nickel/dime DL.
Today's not really the day b/c he made a huge play yesterday but waht was expected ewas that he would bring pressure on the QB as a situational pass rusher. he has not done that, I don't care what the sack #s are if he was getting pressure he could have one sack but that just hasn't been the case.
He's had stretches of games where he hasn't been getting close to the quarterback or even beating his man. Lately tho, he's been batting balls down at the line which to me is just as good as getting pressure. He's a veteran that understands that he may not have the burst he used to but can still find a way to make a decent impact.
he hasn't had any stretches where he has been consiostently putting pressure on the QB. he batted a few passes down against Cincy, he's done well w/ everything except rushing the passer but unfortunately that was why he was brought here.
U still don't get it. He's making less than $2mil this yr, and is 36 years old playing OLB and sometimes a 3-4 DE. Seriously, he has won us two games against the best teams in the AFC (Pats n Steelers). Doesn't that justify his signing? Now u gonna say "he just had a sack and a safety. He didn't win it for us"...ok.
i must be the only one whos actually pleased with JT. I gotta say i love his realistic attitude yesterday in his interview and i think he potentially could be keeping guys level-headed in the locker room and keep things in perspective. I def think those kind of intangibles, along with a few plays where he uses his knowledge of the game and technique more than athletic ability to make a play like yesterday are truly unsung this year. I never expected he would have more than 7-8 sacks this year, at most. But i think some of his plays came at big moments this year. I believe he sacked brady in the patriot game in the end there, and also sacked henne in a big spot in the first dolphin game. so hes not totally invisible.
Yeah, I've noticed that when he tries to bullrush and doesn't generate much of a push, he'll sit back on the LoS and jump to bat the pass down every now and then. Yeah, that is as good as pressure, maybe better. Some QBs can still complete short passes under pressure. No QB can complete a batted pass...unless you're Brett Favre.
I think Taylor has been as good as can be expected this year. Mostly very good against the run, too. I know he was brought here to pass rush and hasn't been AMAZING, but can you imagine how bad we'd be without him? My Lord, we'd be horrendous. Now that Folk seems to be back on track, Folk + Taylor is undoubtedly > Feely. This has been my point the whole time regarding getting rid of Feely...we had to in order to sign Taylor, which imo, has been a key signing this year.
Anybody catch Taylor's post-game interview yesterday? When asked about the "game-clinching safety," he responded to the effect of "that's my job, I wish I was making plays like that more often... we've got a lot to correct." I fucking hated Jason Taylor, but he's been a total class act with the Jets. Bottom line, he's produced. Among many solid plays, he made an impact play to help us secure a win against the Patriots and he made an impact play to help us secure a win against the Steelers. I'll take that contribution any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
he has not one us 2 games, he made a big play yesterday that was the difference so I will accept one game but we were up 14 on NE when he "won us" that game. That was a huge play for us yesterday, he still hasn't done what he was brought here to do and that is rush the passer. I am really happy w/ Jason in every area besides as a pass rusher.
Jason Taylor has been just fine. He's toward the end of his career, yet has been part of as many big plays on the defense as anyone. He had a big sack vs. Brady in the win earlier in the season, he had a big sack vs. Miami in that win and he had the big defensive play vs. the Steelers. Guys been fine.
U mean when Brady was at the Jets 16 with over 4 minutes to go, and with three timeouts left? U seriously think it was going to be a walk in the park without that sack? If Brady threw a strike there, its one possession game with 3 timeouts and 4 minutes to go. The game is wide open to hit the over time, especially when u have Brady back there throwing. Don't be ignorant and dismiss the play as if it was just a regulation play. Basically, you are saying you are happy with a pass rusher who can't pass rush. Does that even make sense? If you are not happy with his pass rushing, what are you happy about then? That he won us a few games? Now I know you're not a band wagoner, but you certainly seem to act like you are jumping back on to JTs band wagon.
LMAO JT won the game for us yesterday! If he doesnt get that Saftey than as time was running out Steelers would have tied it with a fieldgoal and who knows what happens in OT
Is he suposed to be the 1 man pass rusher? Last I check the whole team has been shitty on the pass rusher...
Yeah, really...where has Pace been all year? He is the one with the 40 million dollar contract or whatever it is and you really have to look hard to even know he's on the field. Taylor has been just fine but the fools here will never accept it. And lets not even talk about Scott..other than running his mouth to get attention his only other contribution to the team is getting beat on just about every play run or thrown his way.
yes when NE had just over 4 mins and was down 14 pts. Nice play, it didn't win us a game. if that play doesn't happen the odds we win are still about 90%. I said I am happy w/ jason in every area except rushing the passer, is this that diffiuclt to comprehend? I am happy w/ his play against the run specifically, as a pass rusher he has been a complete failure of a signing but against the run he has been really good and he had his first truly big play against the run yesterday. Our biggest weakness on D is rushing the passer, jason was brought in to help but he hasn't. How am I jumping on his bandwagon? I am happy he finally made a play yesterday and I am rooting for him to make more but overall he's been a disappointment b/c he has failed in the one area he was brought in to help.
