Just stopping by to eat my huge slice of humble pie , we won and I had no faith, but still don't. Despite the great win this team just does not like a SB calibre team to me. Had Brad Smith not got the go-ahead TD straight off the bat and put the Steelers on the back foot, I think the whole outlook of the game would have been different. Sanchez's TD was a gadget play, which I was still glad to see, but for goodness sake, when are we going to see a rushing TD? Games aren't won on 'IFs and buts', so I'm glad of the win, however we got the result.
don't worry so much, gus....according to junc....our offense is fucking awesome. We'll be fine.......Schotty rulz!
is this Francessa's opening monologue for today's show? I'm sorrry, but those are pretty ridiculous points........sure if Brad smith didn't return the opeing KO things would have been different.who's to say how. Most of us who know something about his game (and I do include myself in that mix, although I picked the Steelers) knew that if we scored on ST and D we had a chance to win..well we got 9 points from those units. so now a great call on 4th down is a gadget play? sheesh they played a good game yesterday and deserved the W
Not debating that it wasn't a great call, of course it was, even the cameraman got fooled. But it IS a gadget play. Thats the second time this season that particular play has been called. Brad Smith scoring DID make a huge difference in the best possible way for us in a number of ways. - It quietened the crowd (a bit) - Had the Steelers playing catch-up right from the off - Gave the whole Jets team a MASSIVE confidence boost, which we desperately needed. - Duh, helped us win the game. Again, my feeling is that if we didn't score first, Schotty and co go into panic mode, and those short easy, low risk throws that MS was making would have been replaced with risky throws that we've been used to the last few weeks. I don't care if your Vince Lombardi's left testicle, I called the Steelers and so did you, we both got it wrong. As far as the Jets being a SB calibre team, every season we seem to see a dark horse enter the race, and that could be the Jets, but I don't think so. I haven't seen a better NFC team than the Falcons, and as much as I hate to admit it, right now the top AFC east team in my eyes is the Pats, followed by a clutch of decent teams, including the J.E.T.S. Yep they certainly did deserve the W, they scored more points
A bootleg is not a gadget play or a trick play. A gadget play is a reverse, a fake spike, fake punt, halfback pass - etc. selling the gut run and bootlegging around the corner is a running play. There is some deception involved but its not considered a gadget play. the bootleg is more like a play action pass especially when you have a lineman pulling out to block for the QB as the Jets did yesterday. it wasn't even a naked bootleg.
a fumbleroosky is a gadget play.........a naked bootleg on 4th down at the opponents 7 is a great, sound football call.......give them credit when it's due......I bash at every opportunity too, but that was a ballsy call and a great one, and hardly a gadget.....it's called using the defenses stregnth against them. As far as SB calibre, well i'm nowhere near arguing that....much remains to be seen over the next few weeks. the jets were down 17-10 in this game,. so, in my opinion, the KO return was a moot point by the second half. like everyone else I've been bashing the shit out of this team the staff etc for 2 weeks, gotta give it up to all of them for this effort
Ok we have a difference of opinion there, so let me call it a 'trick' play then. Our rushing game has been so bad in recent weeks that we dared not go for the first down, and yes, I suppose if your going to go for it, then having a pop at the endzone is an option.
In defense of the CBS cameraman, he certainly wasn't fooled. Watch it again and see that he tilts up to follow Sanchez. Even the replay cameras never let Sanchez out of the frame. It was a great call and executed perfectly.
