We played against one of the better defenses in the league and the offense was clearly much more efficient than it had been in the previous 2-3 weeks. I'm not saying Schotty is great or even good, but clearly he did a much better job than usual yesterday.
Yes...I'm willing to see what Callahan can do with Sanchez and this offense. He worked wonders with Rich Gannon.
I agree with this. but do you dispute that this offense is only scratching the surface of their potential?
I hate when people just give the offense credit for scoring TDs, without the offense we don't get those 2 FGs ya know? Our offense contributed 13 points yesterday.
There's obviously a lot of room for improvement. Plenty of talent to work with. I'm hoping yesterday was a step in the right direction with putting our 2nd year QB in much easier situations. If he continues to do that I think we'll see the offense begin to reach it's potential.
Seriously...I hope you're right.....but this is starting to sound like a broken record when it comes to Schotty.
I loved seeing open guys running on a short field. As we saw throwing 5 yards with 3 YAC opens up for bigger plays. This is exactly what I wanted to see yesterday. Definitely a step in the right direction.
Which is what we've been sayi8ng in this thread all season. Schotty keeps Sanchez in LOW PERCENTAGE PASSES except his WR screen. To me Offense goes like this. Run Up inside. Run outside. Work the High percentage passing game off play action. Take shots deep. Schotty goes like this. Run Up inside. Take shots deep. Throw WR screen. Pray for a missed tackle that never comes...
Sorry for the repost it took so long to type this we were two pages gone before I finished the Edit. Let's look at the situational play calling prior to halftime. Two time outs. Ball on the 37. 1st play. Short pass 5 yards over the middle great...complete in 4 seconds. NO TIMEOUT CALLED. Next snap occurs at 10 seconds left. 2nd and 5 play short pass to LT over the middle. 6 yard gain, 1st down at the 49 . LT down with 5 secs on the clock. Time out, 3 seconds left. (Now you're taking one into the locker room..fcol) Last play, throw ball away. Simply Inept.
I think the writing is on the wall regarding this comment....Rex doesn't want to get his hands dirty in regards to the offensive side of the ball....but he has to realize that's part of the HC job. Rex needs to take a course in Clock Management.
Schotty called one of his better games yesterday. When you have no turnovers, no sacks, no dropped passes, and you actually call the gadget plays at appropriate times, you will win a lot of games.
I've been outspoken in my displeasure with Schott for awhile now and I got shit on for it. Now some of the same people are calling for his head. It feels good to be right.
The offense did play well. Matt Ryan led Al into Pitt and led his team to 9 pts and a loss Flacco led Bal to 17 pts and a win The suddenly high flying raisers scored 3 at Pitt The only QB to lead his team to more than 20 points at Pitt was Brady. You guys have to undersatnd how difficult it is to face that D in that building(or anywhere actually). Our offense played well, down 17-10 in the 3rd could have been the turning point if the O didn't respond but they did w/ that TD drive. You don't have to score 30 points to play well as an offense. Some day you will understand this game. That is rex's call there, you guys just blame Brian for everything. you think the OC is making the call to go whether to go or sit back in the last minute of a half?
See above. It took all day for the next play to be called. (And It's not necessarily on Rex..Sanchez should have been instructed to call the timeout over the headset)
