Ok, TGG - I finally got tickets for the Jets/Steelers game next Sunday. I am hoping that the Jets fans can show our force in numbers - hopefully after a win against Miami tomorrow and having an equal 10-3 record as the Steelers. I am sitting with three Steeler fans from Ohio who are committed to going to Jerome Bettis' Grill and I do not want to be inundated by the Black and Gold Bandwagon any earlier than I have to, so, another pre-game destination is preferred. Where to tailgate? Well, I have suggested Mullens near PNC Park - one big problem there is that they don't have NFL Sunday Ticket - because the manager says it was costing him money because no one in the Burgh wants to watch anyone but the Steelers. Yes, that is retarded, especially given how many TVs the place has. Which means that only the JAX/IND and NYG/PHI games will likely be on. It is a huge bar which is a plus. Otherwise, there's Finnigan's Pub and a few more places that are closer to Heinz. They are all very close to each other - within two or three blocks. Unless TGG folks in town have a dire need to watch the Jills/Gay Sharks game live, I suggest Mullens. I am aiming to be there at 11. :steelers:
I was going to go, but Monday night made me change my tune. Its very cold, tickets are not cheap at all, and I am not sure I want to go through all of that to see another terrible effort from the Jets.
I felt the same way after the MNF game, but I live in Pittsburgh and this is the only game that I'm going to get to see this year. I am still hopeful that this game can be a revival for the team's SB hopes and I'm still not ready to return to SOJF form. But that conversation belongs in another thread. If anyone wants to drop by Mullens, I will be there before the game. Of course, just look for the #60 Ferguson jersey.
Well, I guess yesterday's loss to Miami will make Jets fans even more scarce at Heinz Field on Sunday.
People cancelled their plans because they're afraid the Jets may lose? That's a weak reason. The Jets were flying high when I picked the Detroit game, and I would have still enjoyed the experience even if they would have lost.
I can't think of many people who would mind spending upwards of $200 for a game ticket, taking time out of their schedule, flying/driving to Pittsburgh, paying for food, hotel etc, knowing that the team has played like absolute dogshit the last few games.
I understand that, but you're always going to run into the possibility that your team is going to lose regardless of how well they're playing. I'm sure there were Patriots fans who made the trip to Cleveland expecting an easy game, and saw their team get spanked. It happens, and that's the risk you take.
I am in the upper deck behind the closed endzone. I will be at Mullen's beforehand. Btw, tickets have come down in price. I've seen legit lower level seats on Craig's List for $150/each. The proximity to Christmas makes a lot of season ticket holders sell before they go out of town.
I will be there! I hope the Jets beat the Steelers SO bad. I am sick of the horrible play calling! I think we have a better shot with Troy out...has anyone been to Heinz Field before? How are the fans? I am going with a couple Steelers fans so hopefully I won't get the stink eye too much. Haha
I am going with Steelers fans too. From what I've heard, the fans are ok, but you still need to be respectful. You are going to get the stinkeye anyway. Heinz Field is a pretty sweet stadium, but it's going to be COLD. Don't forget the thermals. I have a change of plans. I am headed to Finnigan's Wake instead of Mullen's for pre-game. It is two blocks east of Mullen's (which is across the street from PNC Park) on East General Robinson. Walk about 5-6 blocks back west to Heinz Field afterward. http://www.finniganspittsburgh.com/ I have confirmed that Finnigan's does have Sunday Ticket, Mullen's does not. I want to watch the first half of the Bills/Gay Sharks game - it will almost certainly not be on at Mullen's. Go Bills. Plus, the other games that will influence Jets playoff lockup. Mullen's will likely only have the Eagles/Giants game on. The Jets 2010 Resurrection game will be fueled by Tone Time. All of the time. Restore the faith.
Thanks! Yeahhh I got the thermals and then some, I might even break out the Jets Snuggie!? Hahaha. I just hope it's a good game!
Wow looks like I was way off with the whole, "This team is stinking things up lately it could be a waste of time/money to head off to PA, just to watch the team lose" thing....
KOZ, if your cheap ass only came to the NMS once this year, how could you have even considered a trip to PA?
