One year of Matt Cassel led Patriots to 11-5... I will not even bother talking about Chad, Brett or Mark. Can Kellen pull the same feat? That should more than settle the argument.
If you are good at what you do you make chicken salad out of chicken shit. The best Schotty's given the fans is a chicken shit sandwich with bones left in them.
Josh Mac for scapegoat, err I mean OC!!! Seriously, Josh Mac?? The guy might be the worst coach since Kotite and he is the guy people are begging for?? WTF, has NEs offense skipped a beat without him?
Yeah actually I can. What exactly has he accomplished other then running NEs offense? The same offense that has succeeded before him and is still succeeding since he been gone. Don't see what he has done in Denver other then run the team into the ground. Schotty just needs to stop calling all those dropped passes and ints, WTF is he thinking?
He's very good at what he does, the O stinks right now and he deserves his share of the blame but overall our O has been very good this year and we are 9-4 more b/c of the O than the D.
No Schotty needs to call better plays so Sanchez isn't constantly forcing throws also the O-line is in bad shape, Sanchez has no time. Also McDaniels ran a NE offense without Tom Brady and did well, working with Cassel who had no deep pass accuracy whatsoever. A coordinator and head coach are not the same. McDaniels failure in Denver had little to do with his offensive play calling.
Cassell has turned out to be pretty good, right? and he inherited an offense around the QB that set records the year before AND they faced one of the weakest scheds we have ever seen.
he wasn't bad last year, he wwasn't as good as he is this year but he was hurt, adjusting to a new team and they are alot more talented this year than last year. Charles came on late and they added Thomas Jones this year, Bowe missed a bunch of games last year, he didn't have Moeaki,...
So you think NEs offense was a success because of McDaniels? How do you explain their success before him and continued success after him? Listen I think Schotty deserves his share of the blame for the Os struggles last week but to only blame him as most Jets fans are doing is beyond ridiculous. The Miami game looks a lot different if the Wrs catch routine balls, the qb makes better decisions and the OL blocks to their capabilities. Oh and thanks for continually pointing out that there is a difference between a HC and an OC, I am aware of that though. What I'm not aware of is what Josh Mac has accomplished that makes him the fan favorite to become the next scapegoat of the NYJs?
some good points, but how do you explain Kyle Orton? And last I checked Cassell has an OK offensive coordinator in KC now.
The guy who was basically the same player his last year in Chi as he was last year in denver? His #s have gone up this year but they are scoring roughly the same amount as last year and losing at a much higher pace.
The same OC that was stripped of playcalling duties w/ us during our great '98 season. I'm sure it has everything to do w/ Weis and nothing to do w/ the huge upgrades in talent on the offense this offseason.
He has improved in pretty much every measurable stat since playing for McDaniels. Their defense has given up more points than anyone in the league, I suppose that's Orton's fault?
I don't think anyone is blaming Schottenheimer exclusively. But dropped balls are a part of the game. A young quarterback throwing picks is a part of the game. They're not acceptable excuses for an offensive coordinator of any team. The bottom line is this: there is a very high level of talent on our offense at every position. In addition to that, we have a defense that, although not dominant, is good enough to allow the offense to establish any kind of gameplan they want. (We rarely need to throw out the playbook and just start throwing down the field). That's it. If you have a very talented offensive line, two playmaking receivers, a hybrid tight end, two great running backs, a wildcard wildcat playmaker, a promising young quarterback and a defense that doesn't outright fuck the offense, then mediocrity is on the coach. Period.
He was the same QB in 2008 w/ Chi as he was in 2009 w/ denver. The #s are almost identical, the #s are a little better this year but they aren't scoring more so what do those #s mean? I think most people blame Brian for 90% of it and spread the other 10% around.
Is that supposed to mean something or is it just a pathetic attempt at either making a funny or feel like you are contributing? Either way, both utter failures.
