Really, Seafood? Nice insight...no wonder you feel entitled to waste space on this board with your idiotic critiques. Bring an original idea to the table.

Extra effort will not be enough to get it done.

The scheme is flawed. Even when the team was playing well, they couldn't score points.

Jets need to throw something different and significant into the mix, and it has to be a committed approach, not just for a play here and there.

good pass catcher and he gives the Steelers another threat to worry about in the passing game.

    2. Put John Connor at halfback with Tony Richardson as the full back - Let's bring some power back to the running game and punish the Steelers a little bit.

    3. Design pass patterns with deep, intermediate, and short pass options on every play - Give Sanchez some place to go with the ball. Last week, the Jets receivers were 50 yards downfield and the O-line couldn't not protect Sanchez long enough.

    4. Move Sanchez on every snap -- Don't let Pittsburgh draw a bead on the QB. Follow a straight drop back with a rollout to the right, then one to the left, 3 step drop, then a 5-stop drop...by keeping the pocket moving, it's harder for them to pin their ears back.

    5. Drill, drill, drill "throw the ball out of bounds" -- Again last week, Sanchez brainlocks when it's time to throw the ball away. On one play, he rolled all the way to the near sideline and then tucked the ball in and took an unnecessary hit from a defender when all he had to do was flip the ball 1 foot out of bounds.

    6. Drill, drill, drill "find Polamalu pre-snap on every play" -- And throw the ball they other way. Hairman won't drop any picks and he'll take them to the house.

    7. Get Wild with Wildcat or put it in a cage -- There's no point in running the same non-option option play with Brad Smith. Have him throw it, have him pitch it, or hand it off to the guy go wide. Stop running those plays straight into the line. It's a waste of down.
How about having Smith throw the ball back to Sanchez and flea-flicker it downfield.

    8. Throw the ball on 1st down -- It was negligence the way Shottenheimer continued to take away Sanchez best opportunity to pass by running the ball on first down into 9-man boxes.

    9. Drill, drill, drill "throw to the outside shoulder" -- Sanchez must throw the deep sideline routes over the outside shoulder so either his receiver gets it or it's incomplete. Braylon Edwards has skying skills, put it up there and let him extend.

    10. Use Keller -- Hopefully, these two are working overtime this week to reestablish their mojo. With 2 decent receivers on the outside, Keller should have gobs of room down the middle to work.

Catch the damn ball when it hits you in the hands, would be a good start.

WE run the ball more than any tother team on first down. Throw the ball on first.

Go to a 4WR spread once in a while to force Troy to be Man2man or frozen in his zone. Most of all never throw his way.

On 3rd and long, never throw the ball short or run the draw.

lastly, we need to go for points on every time we have the ball, even if there is only 30 seconds left in the half. Never neal when you are behind.

Right - cus our QB isn't having enough trouble throwing it right at Cornerbacks on the outside right now

Wait, let me get this straight, you want to put a guy who has run for about 60 yards in 4 years of college football, and possibly 3 yards this year in at HB? Against the Steelers??? Who are #1 in rush defense?? and this is supposed to help how???

This I agree with... should have been installed in TRAINING CAMP!!!! Lets not go there though, apparently Shotty is a good OC <SARCASM>

This requires some imagination in play calling and game-plan, See above SARCASM

See, now this should be one of his reads anyway doesn't matter who the safeties are, and goes back to "Training Camp". Also would require something of an imagination to game-plan for Safeties of this ilk... jmo though...

Trick plays may help, but to rely on one??? Against a defense that is technically sound and isn't fooled often??? Seems kinda foolish, but you may need to do something out of the ordinary, if that's the case our wildcat should remain in the proverbial "cage" since our offense lacks imagination to begin with... lets just try a draw play - that would be a novel concept for this offense...

Couldn't agree more! Play action??? Anyone???

Come on man, if this is what your still working on and "drilling" into your QB at this stage of the season, the problems are bigger than anyone on this board thinks they might be... This again needed to be drilled into him in training camp you may want to focus on it for about 15 minutes in some individual sessions, 7 on 7's, but if this is a what is a big focus for this week, man are we behind the 8-Ball already

MIA since week 5... Shotty fell in love with calling all streaks... and Sanchez is looking for his check-down as soon as the ball is snapped, do you see a miraculous philosophy change coming in a week?

What you just said shows how retarded Schotty is. Every pass should be thrown past the first down marker. Is there a Pop Warner, high school coach or player that doesn't know that? If it's third and 5 the idiot calls for a 3 yard pass. If it's third and 10 it calls for a 6 yard pass. what an idiot. It's not that the receiver caught the ball one yard short of the first down which sometimes happens. These are designed plays.

Rex can't be that bright either for allowing this to happen for so long. What is he doing letting this idiot ruin the offense and the team like this? What's wrong with Rex?

you want to put john conner in at hb? are you for real? i agree, he should be out there more knocking dudes around, but t rich is still one of the best blockers in football, so i mean theres that...

the fault of the running games recent failures i think lies on two factors. one, our line is shit at the moment, we cant get a decent push on anyone. but, that is not as important as the coaching. our staff needs to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of our line and redesign protections and blocking schemes to work with that.

our line is banged up. why not focus more on keeping them fresh rather than worrying about who is the better back up. it would do loads for our run game, and give the backups a chance to get on the field and want to work harder. im not going to go so far as to say it would help keep the d-line off balaced, because they are working with backups here, so i dont think they will really care too much which second stringer is in front of them, but as things progress who knows...

our quarterback is constantly under attack. you want your quarterback to be able to recognize the blitzes and slide protection, but when it is consistently failing, with one of the best centers in the game, you have to think that what you want to do just doesnt work. these guys arent just that bad, we arent evaluating our personnel correctly and giving the wrong guys one on ones. we need to recognize where the pressure is getting through and adjust accordingly.

im not in the film room all day, i have other things i need to do, so i cant sit down and create a real analysis that would be worth shit to a coach. if i had time to analyze film i might have some real advice, but since my knowledge is limited to the games and highlights i watch, these are just glaring problems that i find week in and week out.

the pass game is ineffective because it is underdeveloped. now we are relyng on it and cant get into a rhythm because schotty doesnt know how to pass. he just doesnt, never did. he just actually has a playmaker at qb right now like he did with favre before his torn bicep and got away with it.

im not one to blame the organization for the play of its athletes, mostly in regards to danny woodhead. they cant see the future, and it doesnt seem as though he was able to fight his way onto the field with the jets lineup. thats not our fault, and despite that hes playing for the patriots, im happy they cut him and gave him a chance to make something of himself. one person though, i will not forgive them for getting rid of, is my man, good old number 29. leon washington. they get rid of one of the best returners in the game, a guy who if we had him right now probably could have won us back a couple of those L's, because he broke his leg? not even give him a chance to stay on a team you know he loved, and wanted to stay with? someone as proven as LEON to be a GAME CHANGER? a guy we used to watch win games back when mangini was ruining our lives? and they keep the guy whos been running an offense that can only be described as laughable for the past 4 years?

i cant possibly see how someone as defensively minded as rex could just be a savant. he needs to take a look at how easily he would handle the offense and make some SERIOUS adjustments. im not calling for schottys head just yet, i dont think he should have a job in the nfl, but i dont think that firing him right now is the best decision.
