I guess that's the only good point. My shred of hope that I'm holding onto is that we have an excellent road record.
KC and SD both have relatively easy schedules the rest of the way which likely will leave one of them as a potential wildcard at 10-6.
I don't think we make the playoffs without a win over either Chicago or Pittsburgh, should beat the Bills, but right now even that game is a tough game. The Bills are playing better.
I voted yes. Pittaburgh and Chicago both can be (and just were) beaten at home, we just have to execute and not turn the ball over.
we couldn't beat the fins. I'm not sure why some are thinking that the Steelers and Bears are worse than the fins. We'll see.
Its going to be the battle of the defenses next Sunday. The Jets play better on the road and they'll get to Big Ben. Its going to be all about the offense getting their head the fuck out of their ass and keeping them competitive. Its a really tough game to win, but its no sure loss. The Bears again are about getting to Cutler. He's INT prone, he'll force passes to Revis' side, something that hasn't been done all year. That's an invitation to get things going. The reason why the offense was so good in the beginning of the season was because there were zero turnovers. They have to get back to that mentality - just play safe and don't turn the ball over. No one needs to be a hero, you have a good defense to help you out. The philosophy is pretty simple.
I don't think they're as good as some people think they are and I don't think we're as bad as some people are. It's been a rough two game stretch no doubt but it's just that, a 2 game stretch.
We beat them though. The Browns beat them, the Lions beat the Packers. Shit happens, this is the NFL. Literally a few plays to go one way or the other and a 6-10/7-9 becomes 9-7/10-6.
Because one week has nothing to do with the next. Cleveland beat New England, Detroit beat Green Bay, NE and Gren Bay beat us, we beat Cleveland and Detroit. Get it?
Here's to hoping Shaun Ellis returns a fumble for a TD to beat Buffalo, lights a joint, sticks it in a snowball, throws it in the stands, flips off Fireman Ed and says "see you in San Diego Nate "Chokey" Kaeding"
That makes a lot of sense to me. The Jets have to beat one of these. If only to get their mojo back. Pittsburgh will be tough because they still being chased by Baltimore and still fighting for a bye and the top seed. And they are playing well. A win over the Steelers would be huge but I think the Steelers are playing better then the Jets right now. Chicago might be doable if the Patriots take care of the Packers this Sunday. Take enough off their competitive edge for the Jets to win. Buffalo is a crap shoot. The Jets should win but anything can happen with these two teams.
I don't know if anyone has said this yet but if/when we get to the playoffs...we're fucked. We are tied with the Ravens for the 5 right now and I don't see any way we get the 5 over them because they own tiebreaker and have an easier schedule. The Patriots no way will have the 2 seed. They have an easy schedule too. So if we beat the Chiefs/Chargers/Jaguars/Colts to go to round 2 we will almost guarenteed have the Patriots....on the road...
Take my predictions for what they're worth, but here they are all the same: If we're up at halftme vs. the Steelers, we'll win. Clock management is easier than coming from behind to win, and even the Jets will realize this as they prepare this week. The Steelers' luck will run out at some point... why not this week? I'm not worried about Chicago's running game. If we can spring LT and SG a few times and mildly disrupt Cutler, we'll win. Even if we lose one game between P'burgh and Chicago... but establish a decent running game vs. the Bills and prevent their passing game from too many big plays... we'll get a wild-card berth at a warm-weather locale where Sanchez can only step his game up.
Nice summation, I was thinking the same given the on-any-Sunday NFL. Jets beating the 'lllers? Stranger things have happened. Why not? ('09 pass-rush-blitz? yes... 2010 Jets?..hmmm.) Now.....if only to address the Wayne Hunter 'gap' this week ....not to mention the potential Emmual Cook slot for the already replaced (and wtf!) Eric Smith at safety... .....sleeze bag ben must be salivating. I still think the NYJ can pull it off. Even if they don't win at Pitt, they're better than the Bears (paper tiger) which translates to the Jets winning 2 out of the last 3 ... finishing 11-5. Playoffs...not bad....and we'll go from there.....just like last year......
