IMHO...not firing a 1000% replaceable dude to preserve the integrity of the organization is baffling and troubling. No one wants to be fan of a scumbag organization like the Raiders and I think this moves the Jets several large steps closer to being them. I can take the losses, the sting of the team meltdown will fade eventually but this kind of reputation isn't going away any time soon. Talk me down or chew me out.
How do you know he is replaceable? We have been relatively injury free for years now and the S&C guy probably has something to do w/ that. He made a mistake, if they fired every person for making a mistake the league would ahve very few players and coaches.
The guy owned up to it and was almost in tears. If murderers, rapists and dog killers are allowed to still play, then I think we can give this guy a second chance.
This. But of course the Jets will be treated as the scum of the earth because they didn't fire him at 5 PM on Sunday.
haha yeah seriously. I wonder what the rate of recidivism is for this type of thing? Hopefully Dungy will make a visit because I hear Sal loves to fish.
Agree 100%. I have no problem with the punishment. Firing him cannot change the fact that it happened. It's a huge embarrassment to the organization but it's time to move on.
That's a double standard!! It's OK to fire Alosi cause he's replaceable....but not others in the organization. The penalty he's facing is adequate. The Jets may decide not to bring him back after the season is over.
Kraftdell Justice in a nutshell Sal Alosi suspended for 3 games plus for cheating for one second and "injuring" a player who returned one series later Bill Belichick suspended for NOT a minute for cheating for 7 plus years and injuring the integrity of the entire National Football League
If this happened to a team like the Jags or Cardinals it would over and done with after a couple of news cycles but...it didnt. Its us....everyone hates us...people will use it to trash the organization for the rest of the year. Shit...Florio had an article at PFT yesterday stating that there may have been some type of conspiracy since Sal and all the practice squad guys were standing together in a straight line. He gave the impression that they were ordered to do that so they could potentially "take out" the Dolphins gunner.
The NFL allows players to get second, third, and fourth chances for major crimes...head coaches get passes for video taping scandals...i think a suspension is a harsher penalty than Josh McDaniels and Bellicheat received for taping other teams.
Why does everyone hate us? Can we be honest about this? we have brought the negative attention on ourselves.
Rex isn't to blame for this incident. It wasn't Rex who stuck out his knee. If Rex stuck out his Belly he could have been injuryed alot worse.
I've been surprised how few people have been noting this. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they don't bring him back, but doing this gives them flexibility to postpone the decision for a while.
