I'm not convinced the guy tripped the Dolphins player (Suspended W/O Pay For Season)

With no pay for the rest of the year.

    Boneheaded momentary decision.

Hi everyone! Just got here and I'm a Dolphins fan.

Just want to say that I feel bad for the guy and am glad he wasn't fired. For me - the main thing is that he admitted to it and apologized publicly and privately. Its a mistake and there was no harm.

    Guy's got a family.

Just received the following message from a Redskins-supporting friend: "hope Jets coach's knee is OK after disgusting assault by Miami player who left field of play to attack him".

I called it. It's a fair punishment. He can have a "second chance" next season.

And a hit like that - about 10-15% of his annual pay. It's going to be a leaner Christmas for the Alosi kids. Not to mention what he'll lose while suspended.

At least this will "shut up" all of the critics out there who were expecting the Jets organization to drop the ball on this.

In other news... How bout' that Eli Manning?

    WHAT A POST.

Honestly, honestly this should be up for post of the year. After all the crap that comes out of this site when we lose, nice to see some solid stuff by the always solid AbdulSalam.

I've given you props before, props again my friend.

Boo frickin' hoo. He should've thought about that before he pulled a classless, lowlife move and could've severely injured that Dolphins player. God forbid that injury wasn't worse to Carroll, even career threatening, which would've been a way worse financial hardship to him than anything Alosi has to deal with.

Noone should feel any pity for Alosi. He made a bonehead decision and is very lucky he didn't get fired for his awful decision.

There have been worse things to happen. Think of players punching a runningbacks fractured ribs while they're in a pile.

Because Alosi admitted to doing it purposely, he gets what he deserves. I believe that that suspending him for the season, but not firing him was the right move.

Alosi doesn't deserve to get fired because he was behind the white part of the sidelines. That is where coaches are supposed to be. He never moved his foot onto the white part. Its not like the Miami player was forced out of bounds either and was helpless. He choose to go that way. The NFL really needs to clarify the rules to say that you can't run along the sidelines like that. If not, theoretically you can run past the white zone and run back into the game. That is just extremely reckless and could cause more incidents like this.

    Thanks Irish Steve.

FWIW I wouldn't be surprised if there is a private collection amongst the Jets to help Sal pay the fine and take care of Xmas for his family. He apparently is very highly regarded and this was just an isolated dumb move.

The problem I have with this is that some players do worse and much more classless things that could also potentially leave an opponent seriously injured and they get less of a punishment.

Agree but there is a double std. If you are a star player you can drive drunk and you only miss a quarter.

Everyone is just one dumb choice from causing pain to their family, friends and themselves.

Too many kneejerk posters wanting Sal's head on a stick....real sad.

    Punishment fit the incident.

    Guy Whimper?

  18. I'll take it. It could have been more severe, but it's about right. I just hope this was either from the team or a joint decision, and not just from the league. If the team is partially responsible for the penalty, it will quiet some of the criticism.

i think that was a decent punishment, i however dont want to see the guy on the jets payroll again. let him find a job somewhere else.

and i dont buy the whole we werent standing there to block anyone, it would be interesting to see if anyone had any video to the events leading up to this. i can imagine these guys moved after third down to the location they were in. its just a shame to have to go that route.

If the guy is good at his job then he should be back. Everyone of us has done something completely stupid and wish we could have a second chance. This guy deserves it just the same.
