wow. you must be young. I thought you were seriously kidding.
Yeah, junc's post pretty much covers it. Although, junc, you did leave out the Gastineau penalty which, imo, is worse than anything else that happened in that 2 month span.

One of the worst games I ever watched was that Cleveland game. Ever.

Just getting that hope up that after the KC win that the team had righted the ship and was coming back into form...to have that happen was just disastrous.

That was THE worst Jets loss in history. Period.

I've been a little concerned about reliving the 86 season since the schedule came out........it has all the makings now for sure..this team is superior to that group though, I think the fans knew what was coming that year (the team played like they did too)

I wonder what Paul Mcguire is thinking about this now. How many Jets fans know what I'm talking about????

Okay, no problem. I knew you meant Paul. Was just trying to have a little fun earlier.

Yes, many of us know what you were referencing. Last week, even after the 45-3 loss to NE, I figured the Jets would not turn the clock back to 1986 chiefly because I thought they would squeak out a victory over the Dolphins.
Now I think it is very possible the team will drop 4 or 5 straight. They should be able to defeat Buffalo, but you never know.

Wouldn't it be amazing if the Jets limped into the playoffs at 9-7 or 10-6 and then beat KC in the first round and then lost a double overtime game in Pittsburgh or New England in the divisional round?

Well in that case he's wondering why his kids don't call anymore, and sometimes he can't remember where he is.

its feeling more and more similar now........you could see it watching the opening 5 minutes of the game..........especially on offense, these guys heads are effed, they will lose to the Steelers.......there's no doubt in my mind on that one. Then we shall see. Same ole Jet fans sometimes are better prepared for these sistuations.

    So how about these parallels?

    12th game.
    1986: Dolphins vs. Jets - 45-3 Loss
    2010: Patriots vs Jets - 45-3 Loss

    13th game.
1986: Jets vs Rams - 17-3 loss. No TDs scored
2010: Jets vs Dolphins - 10-6 loss. No TDs scored.

Is it possible to note the parallels to 1986 without being labelled a dark sider?

1986 was the year I discovered the NFL and became a Jets fan - after hearing (there was no internet/tv coverage in those days to speak of I used to listen to iton the US armed forces radio network on my shortwave radio!) the jets get off to such an amazing start to the season I made the mistake of thinking "wow this is cool, I finally managed to support a team that could win something" (note: no team I have ever followed has ever won anything in my nearly 40 year existence) - then came the spectacular fall followed by nothing but "meh" ever since.

'86 was the worst year in Jets history and set the table for an 11 year downward spiral

Over the next 11 seasons (until '97 & parcells), that's where all the negativity started
Main reasons for it all were passing up on Marino (media never let Jets live that down)
Joe Walton...unlikeable public personna. He stayed around too long... Giants period of dominance..their fans, then like now, like to kick us every chance we get.
