http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/3455/jets-receivers-dropped-the-ball-literally I know Holmes has won us some games this year but I don't think he's taking enough criticism for that dropped TD. For as much crap as Braylon gets when he drops one, Holmes has more drops in fewer games.
Holmes already has had a few game-winning TD catches for us, so we can't knock him too much for that drop. If it happens again, however, holy shit.
How about Slowtonio's jog to get back to the line with under 1 minute to go when the game is on the line with no time outs? Everyone else was set and "Tone" was 15 yards down the field without a care in the world. If the players don't believe in themselves or this team then there is really no sense of playing the last 3 games.
Well. Holmes has actually won us 3 games but cost us two. He cost us the green bay game and this one. Can't drop easy passes like that.
One of the things steeled fans said about Holmes is that he will make great game winning catches in clutch situations, but loose focuss at other times and have bad drops.
I was actually pissed at him earlier in the same drive when he did his faggoty first down celebration. We were down 2 scores and he wants to celebrate a god damn first down. Then to boot, he drops an easy TD.
i think it comes down to having no flow on offense. The Holmes drop early was bad...but after that can you recall a nice drive on offense? You can't just expect the offense to flip a switch with 3 minutes to go and flow. They need to sustain things and I am tired of hearing about all phases of the game...they have done that once this season and that was against buffalo. How about step up and play well all around for once against a good team
There are plenty of threads to talk about the offense in general. This is about the problem our receivers seem to be having catching a fucking ball - you know, what they're paid millions to do.
That was seriously awful. Throughout the game it seemed that most of Sanchez's best "throws" ended up as drops. Probably an added confidence killer to a young kid that was already struggling...... hopefully this shit doesn't continue to snowball.
It's simply mind-boggling to me. In every loss this year, we have had Mark playing poorly (or strapped against Baltimore) and then when he makes a throw that hits receivers in the hands, and they drop the ball, where it would have been a drive continuing play or a touchdown. But as far as yesterday goes, how many times did we get to Miami's 35-40 yard line, and then not only not go forward even 5 yards to try a FG but went backwards and were forced to punt? We didnt need touchdowns to win yesterday, if we even get folk 2 more tries from 40 yards out, (so we would have needed another 5-10 yards on 2 of I believe our 6 drives that stalled on Miami's 40 yard line) we have a chance to win the game. Would Folk have converted? I have no idea, but I damn sure would be more confident giving him opportunities than punting a hundred times from Miami's 38 yard line....
That was right up there is Braylon's drop last year when it hit him right in the facemask. Only I think the consequences of THIS drop are much worse. Huge waste of a great bounce-back game from the defense
Tone channeled his inner Steve Johnson on that one. Cotch dropping the ball lately is really concerning. I think he as many drops this year as in his whole career.
as many clutch catches he has made for us, and games he has 'won' for us, this loss falls a large part, on his shoulders. He dropped a go ahead TD, giving us the lead and W. I am still a huge supporter but they have to make those plays.
Wow, I understand the Holmes drop was terrible......... but come on. The Jets threw the ball 44 times yesterday and there is a story about 5 drops.......and three of them were more on the QB then the players??? LOL It is weird though that the wideouts are dropping thethe few good balls in these close games. Maybe it's mental, you fight thur bullshit throws all game then a gimme shows up and you fight your way out of a catch???
