I'm still licking my wounds a week on

I haven't been my usual self at all this week, tired, sullen and with moody out-breaks, and yes I attribute this to the MNF loss to the Pats.
Rex isn't pressing the panic button, which I guess is the right thing to do, but unless this was some kind of ellaborate tactic for when we will undoubtedly meet the Pats again, then we are woefully short of being the team that I thought we were.
Via Twitter I have been chatting to a fella called John Sucich, (no idea who he is).
My question was : a week on am I the only one who is still licking fresh wounds?.
He came back with an article that he'd written, which pretty much sums my mood up.
Lol, it still hasn't picked me up though.

I still feel out of sorts, but I try to look on the bright side - there's time to put things right. If that had been the AFC Championship Game then I don't know how bad I'd be feeling now!

What will make me feel better is a solid win over the Dolphins. I don't care about a blowout, just a solid win where the Jets play well in all areas and control the game. That will put things back on track.

A Pats loss wouldn't hurt either...

I was going to post this exact thing a couple of days ago. I usually have my 24 hour rule after every Jets loss. Mourn for about 24 hours and then move on and look forward to the next game. However; this week was different. This loss is going to take a long time to shake. That game was built up as the AFC East Championship game and the Jets got a historic ass whipping.

It's hard to imagine how a 9-3 team could be the laughingstock of the league but that's what I feel we are right now. This is the worst I've felt over a loss since the Seattle game in 2008.

I feel like all the potential of this team and the chance to be Champions was taken from us in 25 minutes on Monday Night. I hope the team can bounce back and expect them to, but I have watched the Jets for a long time......

I was going to edit that, Gremlins are not people that I associate with .
Wiki gives a better idea - Toon Army.

Newcastle like the Jets have won fuck all in years but have the loyalist fan support going, although I'm sure they'll be people that will always disagree, but largely as fans they are applauded.

I felt this week like we lost a playoff game and the season was over. I usually recover by Wed. It took till Friday this week. We win, its all forgotten and we are 10-3 getting ready for another show me game. We gotta win, please NFL gods

Thanks for the info, interesting read. Especially about the two teams being only 10 miles apart and how some families are actually split on who they root for. I can imagine how a big game plays out when those two team meet. Especially if one side is blindsided like the Jets were against the Pats. That could get ugly I presume.

I dont post very often but this thread was about how bad Gustoonarmy felt this week. I even altered my T.V. viewing, I did not watch the NFL channel or any other sports news all week. By seeing all the " sports experts " rip apart our Jets again and again . I am like many of us I still cant believe what the hell happened. But at four PM today my Jets jersey will be on and my wife will leave the rec room because of my screaming behavior. Damn, I hope we kick ass today and boost my football spirits. Allentown Ernie.

Well, by the media at least. Those of us who can remember you struggling to get 20,000 into SJP throughout the whole of the 80s, even when you had people like Arthur Cox and Jackie Charlton managing players like Beardsley and Waddle in the top flight, are a little less caught up in the whole "greatest fans in the world" myth. In fact, you only started getting big attendances when Hall took over and put Keegan in charge, and frankly most clubs that get a sugar daddy take over and start bankrolling success see attendances shoot up. The most loyal fanbase isn't a team like Newcastle where 30% of your attendances fucked off upon relegation, it's to be found at clubs like Brentford or Orient or Crewe where they've got zero chance of ever achieving anything, but attendances stay solid at a mark that allows their club to keep functioning in the black.

None of which changes the fact that Newcastle away is one of the best weekends in football, because it's a fine stadium and a brilliant drinking city.

Agree with most of that but as this wasn't a thread about the "best fans" I avoided it as I didn't want to affect gus's mojo even more!!

best fans are simply man city in my opinion pre sheikh money! 35,000 in the third tier of english football.

You know I actually went to a rugby game while in the service. Somewhere in Australia (Freemantle I think?). Just happened across a little stadium and they let me walk right in, didn't even charge me a ticket as the field was visible from the street with stands encircling the rest of the field. Small place but loud crowd.

What a surprise, been expecting this post and from you.

Newcastle almost left the football league altogether, yet still had amazing fan support home and away. Yeah, sure we had a dip in attendances and that also happened to coincide with the ship yards and coal fields being closed down, but thats something outsiders like you and the southern media choose not to acknowledge.
 30% dip last year? We were getting crowds of 35 -40k in the championship.
I know you hate the Toon, I get that, now move along.

    Fair point.

As for my Jets mojo, I went out to the pub on Tuesday wearing a Jets T-shirt. I got a couple of piss takes, but fuck them; if I'm wearing the colours when we're doing well I'm wearing them when we're down, one beatdown is not going to make me go shrinking away. Fuck the doubters and haters, we'll take it out on those South Beach pussies today and go 10-3, baby.
