They could also be 11-1. Don't play that game. Its old. So is this argument and the two threads you've created basically saying the same thing. Go eat a goddamn snack.
the other thread was a response to people talking about the playoffs when the miami game is this week and is vitally important to the rest of this season
The reality is, we all love the Jets but whether you're a pessimist or optimist, there's quite a lot of factual and statistical evidence to back up the feeling that we're quite good but not actually VERY good at all. 1-3 against teams over .500 is the one that alarms me the most. 9, 0 and 3 points in our three losses is also a major concern. There's also the fact that we've only played well in about 3 of the 9 wins (NE, BUF and MIA for my money) I love the Jets but I can honestly see us struggling over the line to crawl into the play offs. Hope I'm wrong and that we wrap it up in next two weeks
It doesnt matter how you get to the playoffs it just matters if you get there. In the playoffs records are meaningless.
and they told you why they not only were talking playoffs last year but this year as well. We were talking playoffs after week 3 in 09, and there was a thread created saying the Jets were going to the Conference finals. We were right. I guess we know better.
and the mighty NE could have easily fallen to Indy if Payton choses not to throw another meaningless interception when they were already close to field goal range.
If this team was sitting at .500 give or take a game I don't think many of us would have huge issues with pessimism. To make threads like this that are basically saying the Jets may not win another game all year when they are at 9-3 is just annoying. When I come here in the off season and talk about how the Jets season will go it seems like everyone is pretty realistic with their expectations. You get people giving honest and well thought out predictions about win and loss numbers. What gets me annoyed is that when I say I think the Jets will go 11-5 or 12-4 I am expecting that those losses are going to be ugly games from the Jets, that's why I predict them to lose sometimes because teams don't play their best ball all the time. So far this season is going about how I thought it would in regards to wins and losses. Some people like to harp on getting played tough by teams like the browns or lions but at the end of the day it is pretty irrelevant to me and where I see this season going. All that matters is the W so that this team can get in the playoffs and make some noise.
Here's a scary thought: I have the Jets losing to Miami and the Steelers, but beating the Bears and Bills to make the Wild Card. There's my reason for not panicking and understanding teams will go through some shit, even though it may not when when you want them to. http://forums.theganggreen.com/showpost.php?p=1804478&postcount=13
I'm not sure what's worse... The over the top, Super Bowl bound green eyed optimism, or the SOJ fan Hindenburg landing gloom & doom. And then there's the 20/20 hindsight monday morning "this season is going just like I thought" bullshit. This is a mercurial league, this season more than most...and the Jets are a historically mercurial team. That's fact. Much as I'd like to see the memory of 40 plus years of frustrating football wiped clean with a Super Bowl win, my big head thinking tells me that this regime is still a year or two removed from that. I'd love to be proven wrong.
Damn, beat me to making this thread. But mine was going to be called "another thread like my last one".
