Safeties aren't more important than CBs. Impact players are impact players regardless. And Revis is a star. But I've always said a pass rush is more important than secondary guys. That will allow you to have consistent success. Just like an offensive line on offense.
Last year we got coverage sacks, now that is not the case. The way you beat a Rex Ryan D is quick passes with a ton of YAC apparently.
Shonn Greene and Holmes. The OL did well but those three were really the only 3 to show up the whole game.
We know the obvious reasons why our defense isn't performing up to last years standards but one of the reasons is QB's have stopped throwing at Revis. Revis was like top 4 in targets last season yet the QB rating was awful. So many incompletions were thrown his way. The number has to be way down this year.
I don't care if Revis shuts out every WR the rest of the year -- our pass defense will STILL stink if we don't get a pass rush.

One other thing. The pass rush got to the QB, which made his 1st read his only option. That's why Revis saw a lot of targets. Now with a shit pass rush, QBs can find the 2nd and 3rd reads. The Jets gotta fix the front 7. No matter how much Rex wants DBs, he needs a deadly front 7. This has not been a secret since the end of last season.
Apparently, it was a secret to Mike T. because they did nothing except add an over-the-hill Jason Taylor.
There is an arrogance with the front 7 and I don't understand it. I think they thought the scheme was going to make up for the fact this team lacks a pure pass rusher. Problem is, other teams learn tendencies and the scheme and they make up for it. They had to have learned their lesson this year, even at 9-3. They'll draft a pass rusher, or get one in FA. I want one drafted.
Which, again, is the reason why its insanity to commit so much money to a CB. They can be gameplanned into irrelevance no matter how great they are.
I wonder if Revis will get frustrated not getting much action on the field and pull a Moss? I mean, it's like he's a decoy on every play.
How does a corner pull a Moss? You can't take plays off at corner. Revis isn't like that. He knows what comes with being an elite corner, once we get the middle of the field sorted out he will get more looks with Cromartie on the other side.
Best indication Revis played well was u never saw him or heard his name. Cromartie got shit on! Pats just didn't throw revis way. wasn't defense fault. if offense gets you's points its differnt game. You give Brady and that offense that many chances they'll kill ya. If game was close your D is good they woulda came up with stops. if pats don't have to I want no part of jets defense til next season .
He's the goods, the absolute goods. The one football player you can pretty much count on to be great every time he steps on the field.
