that's for the head's up. I really hope we crush the dolphins on Sunday. This week has been miserable.
Your doing yourself a favor... regardless of what McCoy was trying to do somebody made a play on him which allowed us to get the ball back and avoid a tie. That guy was Taylor but apparently the play counts less because McCoy wasn't trying to get sacked on that play.
You love to complain that this D can't close teams out with a lead, yet Taylor does exactly that and you still complain ... NE just marched down the field easily before that strip sack and was going to use all 4 downs to get in the end zone. Based on our late defensive performances this year, I think it's safe to say that the game's outcome was still very much in doubt
I can't believe how many people have defended Taylor's play in this thread. Outside of the strip-sack on Brady in week 2 (and, yes, that was huge), he hasn't been anything near what we expected/needed him to be when he was signed. Sure, he hasn't been given a starter's playing time, but that was known to be the case well before the preseason. That whiff on Brady on MNF was horrific. And even watching him on other downs, it's clear he doesn't have the same motor and/or ability he once had in Miami. So far, he hasn't paid off.
Watch the play again, Taylor did nothing on the play other than fall on McCoy. McCoy was just trying to get out of the EZ and keep the clock moving. He was tackled on the 2, he wasn't close to a 1st down- he needed to get to the 15 for a 1st down. There were 3 other Jet defenders in the area(shaun Ellis also helped bring him down) and if he got away from them(not likely) David harris was around the 10. Explain to me what he did to make that play? The play came to him, it was a situation where the QB was making sure he got out of the EZ and got down to keep the clock running. No matter who is in there he's not getting past the 2-3 yard line. EXACTLY! He wasn't in the backfield. Watch the clip at the link below, Thomas starts at the 3 yard line and retreats to the -1 before Taylopr even engages w/ him, at that time McCoy had alreayd begun his scramble to get out of the EZ. He did't beat Thomas, he wasn't in the backfield. http://gamerewind.nfl.com/nflgr/game?id=54856&play=4771&icampaign=GR_Free_Clip_nfl It was as close to a big play as he has made all year but the facts are we were up by 14 pts w/ 4 mins to play.
I typed my version of your reasoning with the intent of showing how ridiculous it was and you agree with it. Nice.
