That isn't funny. I have no hands. I type with a straw in my teeth. And I still draw a breath, much to the chagrin of many.
It wasn't a big mistake to let Woodhead go. It only turned out that way because he went to the Patriots, who could utilize him perfectly. When Faulk got hurt, it was a perfect fit. He wasn't a great fit with the offense we have now. It's clear we underestimated him a little bit, but I'm not convinced he would have been this effective without Tom Brady and within our offense. I'm hoping McKnight can be a good player. He's got good size and athleticism. If we can set him straight and get him to work a little harder, he can be a nice player for us, and a more versatile one. Those who say Brad Smith could be gone after the year could point to McKnight as a reason why. He's no Smith on special teams, but he can contribute at RB, WR, and possibly even at DB apparently. If we lose Smith, McKnight becomes one of those wildcard guys for us.
This is true, lots of people hated him here. I suppose if 4th round picks don't produce right away they are busts in people's eyes.
Ok i know it was garbage time. and the game was well over... but.... mknight actually looked pretty good at the end of the patriots game... he seemed to just explode through the hole on a couple of plays... although im sure everybody had there tvs off by then and nobody saw it
If Smith and LT are gone after this season, McKnight better be ready to play on 3rd downs and return kicks for us.
That's the potential the posters who did their homework on him knew he had. We also knew he is a project and wasn't going to contribute right away, but you can see what he will be able to do once he adjusts to the speed of the NFL.
:rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2: he had 3 carries in complete garbage time I hope he averages 6 YPC in meaningful action but there is nothing you can take away from that game the other night.
I'm not saying those 3 carries were anything to speak of, but you've been propping up woodhead for his garbage time carries last year.
Nevermind probably would have been cut in week 5 anyway when Holmes returned, but he likely wouldn't have landed where he did.
Yeah I mean he's gunna be a HOFer. LT won't compare to his career. I think he'll give Jim Brown a run for his money too. Curtis Martin will look like Leon Washington after Joe retires a life long Jet.
Look, at the end of the day I believe you keep football players and cut bait with the rest. We cut a real good football player, and the mans accomplishments from college, to the pros merit that recognition. Some guys just make plays. It's the way it has always been. We cut one, that stayed in the division and it helped them tremendously and by extension hurts us. The rest keep saying that McKnight may be better long term, but....this team did not go get Cro,Edwards,Holmes for the long term. This move always needs to be viewed in the context of this year. 'Let me get this straight you're going to pass up 17,89,81....and throw it to Him?!?!?' And that's without considering 10.
This conversation is getting really old, we keep covering the same ground. And I'll say it for the 485th time, in terms of just this year nevermind would be as useful as McNugget.
I agree wholeheartedly with your post above. Timing has much to do with it. Realistically they'd be putting out TJ Duckett or FatDale White instead of a producer.
