not bad until you mention the above bolded sentence. both teams know pretty much what each other does offensively so save the conspiracy cheating bit. jets were simiply out played! woodhead obviously helped after being in the system for almost 2 seasons. bottom line, the jets came out flat in the biggest game of the year so far and totally stunk/embarrassed themselves on national tv. hopefully it lights a fire under their arse's because they haven't been playing really well, even though they have been winning. as far as the pats, they are not 42 points better than the jets, but they are by far better than anyone expected them to be. fact is, they are the team that has been improving the most as the season has gone along, while the jets have regressed. at the moment, the pats are the better team and back it up with their play and as usual with belichick coached teams, they get better as the season goes along so the jets better wake up. with the tough remaining schedules for both teams, the advantage is by far with the pats. they are playing better and being lead by a better coach and qb, and thats a fact. rex is great, but he doesn't think very good on the fly compared to BB, and as we've seen, when you look past all the hype and homerism, sanchez is no brady!
Call it what you will. I know they dominated us, and we played like ass. I am a paranoid person. Would you really put it past them to have someone listening in on the headsets? It's not out of the realm of possibility. So eliminate that crazy paranoid possibility next time. Not a big deal.
actually, i seriously doubt they would try. they're being closely monitored, i'll bet by the league and every team in the nfl. so for me, the cheating perspective is simply reaching. i prefer to go by what i saw, and that was a jets team that just didn't show up. they left their hearts back in new york. whats so amazing is, it really was the biggest game of the season and a once in a decade chance to put an end to the SOJ mantra and grab a hold of this division like a vise, but like the " SOJ " they totally screwed the pooch! we all are totally shocked and bewildered how they didn't come to play in a game of such importance.
I'm specifically referring to the part of the bent analysis that says the Patriots kept guessing right as to when and where to bring safeties. You seem to be talking about the game in general. I don't disagree with your general take on the game but I'm referring to something more specific. Even if Woodhead gave them a fresh copy of the Jets playbook that was printed 1 week before the game that doesn't tell them what plays are being called. There's something more to it. Either we're tipping our hat, or they're figuring it out another way. There are a number of ways we could be tipping our hat too.
I really have to apologize here. I was being sarcastic, and it was not evident from the way I posted. I don't think it's Woodhead at all. The innocent explanation is that the Pats see something in the game film. THat may be. The problem with that explanation is, wouldn't the Jets also know they are showing that, and would have that be clear from the game film?
I rather find it funny the TJB analysis singled out the Pats as the only one guessing the Jets runs right. If I am not mistaken, Bengals were very good at guessing the Jets intention. Like... there were quite a few 1st downs where Jets would go with 3 WR/TE/1 RB personnel. Bengals defense would load up on the strong side, and Bam! the RB is stuffed for a 1 yard gain. I was crying out loud - if the defense is loading up on the box, DO SOMETHING OTHER THAN RUNNING INTO THE WALL. Were THEY cheating too? I really don't think so.
It's possible our coaches don't see it if we are showing something in film. Like when you try to proof read your own document, you often miss things that jump right out at other people. But BB had years of Schotty film week two when we shit on them, why weren't they correctly guessing with safeties then?
I guess the Tomlinson factor kicks in there - Cheat only had one game film with Tomlinson wearing the green jersey then. By now - I think he figured out that it's just different guy, but same shit.
That's a good point, our offense is different with LT. I would still do something creative to circumvent the possibility of foul play. More importantly, the CS needs to be all over this problem and figure out WHY people are guessing correctly. Even if Schotty can't figure it out, Rex is a defensive guy and should be able to.
My guess is that, Rex is fine the way things are when it comes to the running game - the opposing guys actually knowing what is coming. He is kind of very old school in that way. I think he'd be more like "Stop us if you will - we will still get our 4 yards no matter what you do" when it comes to the philosophical side of it. Very old, if you ask me; 3-yards and a cloud of dust is, as good as it sounds, a thing of a past. What is worse is that, Tomlinson is not that kind of back. Peyton Hillis fits that bill better. Shonn Greene fills that role better. If this was their intention, then they should have grabbed Peyton Hillis when McD was on fire-sale of his squad.
