I really believe that starting Sunday we will start to see the real jets. Monday night was a wake call for us and we will take it out on the rest of the NFL. The Pats woke up a sleeping giant. I want to see the pats in the playoffs.
If that's the case I'd like to know why the giant was sleeping on Monday Night Football against a divisional rival in a battle for the No.1 seed in the AFC.
While I second the optimism, I'm a little more cautious. I hope that Monday was a wake-up call. After everyone of our wins where we didn't play well, I waited for Rex to say something publically not just 'yay we gutted out a win.' I really think that this could be what we need, but I think there are definite planning and coaching deficiencies on this team right now. Having said that, we're still positioned to make the playoffs and we certainly have the talent to go all the way. It's just a matter of getting that talent all on the same page. Go Jets.
I hope Monday night was a wake up call. It certainly was for a lot of people on here who were penciling us in as one of the Super Bowl teams.
I don't think there is a sleeping giant, the Jets were just schooled by a better opponent. I think the Jets can use it as a means to galvanize the team and re-adopt that "us against the world" mentality that worked so well for us in the postseason last year. I still believe.
If Monday Night wasn't a wake up call we are in big trouble. I hope we can get out to a quick start as that Stadium will be angry if we are struggling into the 2nd qtr.
at some point you gotta figure the talent is gonna put together the ideal game we have been looking for. we just can't seem to get both units having big days on the same day.
and that just shows you how dominating every phase of our team can be on any given day(ST included). how many games have we got good performances out of both units on the same day? maybe 2 games(pats and bills).
I hope you're right, but... most of us have been around long enough that we have that tiny voice in the back of our heads whispering "same old jets" no matter how badly we want to believe they are different now.
Sorry man but I've been around since the Richard Todd days and I don't get that SOJ feel. It was bad game on one bad day. We've skated by and I think we were way to overconfident. This is a different regime and one that has been around winning. I'm not ready to say SB Champs but I think we will get our shit together on Sunday and kick the Phins in their mouths.
Gotta love us Jets fans. Hope springs eternal. I remember being absolutely devastated after last years defeat to the Jags and my wife trying to console me and I said we were done for the year on the Monday; by the Friday I was working out our chances to make the play offs; By Sunday I had us going to the Superbowl....
If we weren't ready to play against our division rival on MNF for the #1 seed in our division and in the AFC, I don't know what it will take to get us ready. Sorry to sound like a darksider, but c'mon we dropped the ball both metaphorically and literally.
Same here, SOJ is dead, as many say here it's the SOJF that won't die. They soon will though. Going into the Pats game Rich Gannon said we were the most complete team, we do all things well, but not great in all areas. We have yet to do all phases well at the same time. This time last year is when it started clicking, our D looked great vs Cincy and I think the loss of Leonhard set us back a bit but we should be fine this week. Special teams will be fine, Folk is not a big concern for me because I expect to see touchdowns. Rex had a closed door meeting, one on one with Schotty, so that better address the issues of the offense. Schotty has to create a gameplan that exploits the oppositions weaknesses not just pick plays at random, like it seems he's doing. Last season Ray Lucas pointed out that on every first down of the 3rd series we'll run a PA pass and Mark will throw it deep. Sure enough he was right, which is insane. I'm not concerned with the defense, the coaches on defense, the offense, or special teams. I am concerned with Schotty though. The common example is the GB game, the Packers and a bad weather day, against a team that can't stop the rush he has Mark throw 38 times and only rush 29 times. (6 for Shonn) Just stupid shit like that drives me nuts.
Monday is dead, and so are the SOJ. The "real" Jets are playing Sunday can still win the Superbowl or not make the playoffs.
