We lose one game badly and all of a sudden .... Hey Rexamillion The Coin isn't the fukin problem!! Now we'll get the ball, go 3 & out and be like...man that suked. Oh well , you'll get em next time Shotsie
You will note the offense was in hurry up, we went for it on 4th down and attempted a very low percentage field goal in the seemingly blind panic attempt to not be trailing and gave New England a short field to work with. If we had have received, i am sure we would have tried to punt and pin the Patriots deep as it was still level I am in favour of deferring in most cases but in each game it should be looked at, I thought it was a bad idea in New England.
I dont think it is a good idea, considering the Jets have deferred all season, and switching after 1 loss isnt necessary.
Yes, obviously he believes the game is over if they lose the toss. You have really been paying attention, haven't you?
If I remember correctly we started off with the ball a game or two early in the season, and those games turned out pretty well for us. I don't have a problem with this.
shouldn't he base this decision on the opponent they're facing?!?!?! like taking the ball from Brady last week..... or letting the D face a struggling Henne? :breakdance:
Doesn't really make sense after scoring 3 on this porous Pats D. It's not like the O was better than our D on MNF!
For the most part, the Jets have stopped opponents first drive. The issue is, not doing anything with the ball after that. In theory, getting the ball after half, with a lead is the way to go. Unfortunately, the Jets have'nt done much with their first drive after half either. Personally, I would prefer to see the Jets keep defering the opening kickoff, but actually do something with the ball.
This is dumb, if you win the Coin toss you should always defer and get the ball in the 2nd half ... this makes no sense, what are the benefits of this? Is he losing that much faith in the defense?
It's not based off 1 game, the Jets haven't scored in the fist quarter in half of our games. In the last 8 games we've only scored 9 points. I think it's a good idea, especially at home to get the crows into it ASAP. Manish provided the stats-
u just got housed for 45 pts - u better get that D on the field first. and if they O goes 3 and out - oh man u are gonna hear the groans start. jil
Brady is one thing, but scoring 3 against one of the worst defenses in the league is much worse. Again this is not based off 1 game, it's based on a seasons worth of evidence.
If he wants to help the offense, maybe an OC who isn't as predictable as a metronome might be a start.
