He said it in his press conference. Hopefully we will finally get a touchdown in the first quarter. Haven't had one since the last time we played the Dolphins. Also he said he talked to Schotty, he didn't show to much emotion but I think he's a tad mad at Schotty to. He also brung up the Arizona Cardinals in 2008 who got blown out by the Jets 56-35 and Patriots 45-7 and they ended up in Super Bowl and lost because of Santonio Holmes.
Did he actually call it a toin coss? god dammit Rex, get your shit together! I'm not sure how I feel about this. At face value it doesn't seem like a big deal. I just hope he's not going to pull a 2008 Mangini and change everything that has been working at this point in the season because of one shit game. That doesn't really fall in line with the whole burying the ball idea.
To get the offense started off better. Besides wasn't the point of our team to build a decent lead and then have our defense hold down the team and then ground and pound it out on offense?
why even bring it up? If i'm the dolphins and I win the coin toss I know I'm taking the ball just to fuck with them.
i get trying to be the antithesis of Belichick, but there's a happy medium between too vague and too detailed. i think rex needs to learn where that happy medium is.
Speaking of Coin tosses BTW... On PTI yesterday Tony Kornheiser said he was shocked by the Jets colapse on MNF. Stating "He thought the Jets looked pretty solid during the coin toss" :jets:
This is actually a big deal. It indicates that he recognizes this defense first mantra is not who we are. That said, if he's playing to the press - he needs to piss off.
Winning the toss and choosing to kick of course does not in itself mean you have a top tier D. I don't want to focus too much on this sort of minutiae, but I think it used to be you would almost never see that, even for teams with excellent D's. Who first started doing that, the mid eighties Bears? I don't think even the seventies Steelers did that. Of course the Steelers had a pretty good O... Back to the Jets - the part about kicking it that I have been unhappy with is that it is far from clear that the Jet D is better than the Jet O. It seems to have been more about Ryan's ego and wanting to believe his team is D oriented. Well the D is not that great, so it has been looking increasingly foolish. Enough on this minutiae, though.
I hear you, Good and bad here. Bad first.. Rex usually goes the defensive route first at the coin flip due to his faith in the D. So if he switching it up now i hope its not because he has lost any faith.... Good... Rex is finally realizing that he has to help out the offense somehow and is exploring ways to do this by seeing if he can cure the slow starts with giving them the start of the game. - Either way you gotta love the dudes passion he is searching every possible way to get stronger from this horrible loss.
