Danny Woodhead has more receiving yards than Randy Moss since Moss was traded. I was kidding when I said he would be our next Faulk, this guy is gonna be our version of Curtis Martin. Or at least Faulk with Martin's storyline. Either way I love a guy who runs for 35 yard touchdowns and then makes the tackle next on the ensuing kickoff, thanks y'all!
lol - I'm going to go with Tom Brady and BB being the main reason. They could have plugged most anyone into that role and had success. Keep thinking it's the magical woodhead driving though.
Once again, I said "a lot", not the main reason. Pointing out the obvious, that they have Brady and Belichick, doesn't change the fact that Woodhead is a very productive player for them and a big part of their success. It's fact. It's there in the numbers and on film for you if you're not a numbers guy. I'm no happier about it than you, just able to see what's going on. Look at the bright side, McKnight got his garbage time carries this week, thanks in part to Woodhead.
My point is that we could easily be having nearly the same argument with McKnight and Woodhead switched. The guy is having success in NE in that role. It's not as if he's some unique talent with skills no one else has. Any number of fringe NFL running backs with good hands could thrive there.
Justify it all you want, the reality is what it is. If anybody could do that job they would have had someone to fill in for Faulk already and wouldn't have gotten Woodhead.
The Pats did the same thing with Antowain Smith....he was nothing special...but in their system, he was effective. I don't understand why Woodchuck is getting all this attention.....he's played well in their system...but he's not a white Adrian Peterson. Deion Branch is another good example......does well in the Pats system, but stunk like my feet out in Seattle.
lol, I would assume your kidding but the guy is one hit away from being done in the league forever. I know the same can be said for any player but for a guy like Woodhead I'm not talking your normal career ending injuries. He can't afford to lose even half a step because he is already over achieving as is. He plays a position that is easily replaceable and BB has shown that he isn't going to hold onto anyone for sentimental reasons.
I'm not justifying anything, I'm looking at it realistically. They got Woodhead before Faulk went down. When he went down they gave him his shot, and he fit the role well. Now he's having success. If it weren't Woodhead it would be someone else, possibly even our 4th rounder if we cut him instead of Woodchuck.
Yes. There were so many leading all time NCAA rushers. And at the Pro level. This staff....Leon Washington. Good staffs take football PLAYERS, and use them to succeed. We cast one off, and it's come back to bite us.
