Our d-line is hot garbage. Ellis, Taylor, Pryce are WAY over the hill. Pouha and Devito are nice serviceable players but thats it. Lets not even discuss the Ghost. Calvin Pace looks like someone put a pin in him since he got busted for roides. Haven't heard Bryan Thomas's name since the beginning of the season. Bart Scott is a lot of bark but no bite.

Bottom line is none of these guys can create a pass rush by themselves. That is going to kill us in the playoffs.

Maybe because he wasn't a free agent like Bart Scott.

It's worse than just not generating a pass rush, they can't even occupy blockers or open a lane for blitzers to run through. It's amazing how many times they can send 7 guys and they all just crash into the opposing OL and don't even get a push towards the QB.

Lol, I was thinking the same thing. Multiple times I watched blitzes where our players just ran into a clusterfuck.

It's definitely been hard to watch, thankfully the offense doesn't have much need except for execution and playcalling, this years draft needs to be all defense. The other upsetting thing is we are going to have a hard time holding on to current players so getting any defenders that are worthwhile in FA is not going to happen.

I think it's really just the lack of a dominant NT. We had the same problem with Mangini and the defense. In a 3-4 Def, you need a good NT to get the double team. Pouha is serviceable, but he's not a good long term solution. Rex has been able to work around it, but let's be real. The big problem is we really miss Jenkins, his hole is catching up to us.

No matter what happens this season, we need to draft lineman

They've been very good at stopping the run, and if we had a real pass-rushing outside linebacker their lack of pass rush wouldn't be such a big deal. Not really sure what's happened to Pace, he was so good last year but has been a non-factor most of the time this season.

    Not just a NT

We have no impact OLB pass rushers. Taylor should go back to dancing with the stars instead of dancing with the Offensive linemen.

Pace has been a bust this year. What happened to his bursts off the edge?
Thomas we know can't rush the passer. Gholston is a complete bust.

We have no Ware, Wake, Harrison, Woodley, Phillips, Hali, Suggs or other 3-4 OLB edge rushers who make teams double or triple team them or face having them destroy their game plan.

And our d-line might as well jump up and down and try to bat down passes because they never go forward.

We had 3 sacks today. By Harris, Idehigbo and Eric Smith. A MLB and 2 safetys. All off blitzes.

If we don't blitz we don't even make the QB blink! We desperately need one OLB puss rusher and one DE who can push the pocket. And the return of Jenkins.

It has been a problem all season and tonight it reared its ugly head in the worst possible way. Brady was playing target practice out there.

Peter King tweeted that he thinks the Jets are the favorite to sign Haynesworth.

    Presumably in the offseason.

I dont know if I even expect that guy to play honestly for the small amount of $$$ any team will offer him.

I've never questioned Tanny's transactions.....but if he signed Haynesworth....that would change quickly.

Funny this is a thread about the d-line and it's all about how Pace, Taylor, Thomas, and Scott suck.

The problem is Ellis has slowed down considerably, Pryce is alright, but Pouha and DeVito are not pass rushers at all. This team's pass rush has not been the same since Jenkins got injured last year. He commanded at least 2 blockers on a play and freed up lanes for the blitzers to rush through.

Jason Taylor shouldn't be expected to line up as part of a 3 man line and generate a pass rush. He has never been that kind of player. His best success came as a 4-3 DE where he went 1 on 1 with a tackle. Bryan Thomas is just not a good pass rusher, never was. Pace is the big disappointment, he was supposed to be the team's best pass rusher and has done nothing.

And anybody complaining about Bart Scott just has no idea how valuable he actually is and all the little things he does to make the defense work.
