The AFC East looks like this now: 1. New England Patriots-10-2 2. New York Jets 9-3 3. Miami Dolphins 6-6 4. Buffalo Bills 2-10 The Jets and Patriots BOTH have division records of (3-1) with each losing to one another. The Jets finish off with: Miami Pittsburgh Chicago Buffalo New England finishes with: Chicago Green Bay Buffalo Miami Each team has 2 AFC losses: Jets: (Patriots,Ravens) Patriots: (Jets,Browns) I would assume if the Jets win out and finish 13-3 and New England loses to Buffalo or Miami, the Jets win the division being 5-1 in division and New England being 4-2. What are the tiebreakers though? Say New England loses to Chicago or Green Bay? That would have each team being 5-1 in division and both losing twice in the AFC. Thoughts?
New England really doesnt look like they are going to loose another game this season. But hell whatever anything can happen.I know we arent gettin anywhere with our playcalling thats for sure!
from nfl.com So if we win out and NE loses to Chicago then it looks like it would come down to conference record which NE takes.
We need them to lose to the Dolphins or Bills. And we need to win out. Bills gave them a run for their money last time. Anything can happen. Don't count on it though.
Looks to me that it would go to common opponents. The Jets would win that one by beating Chicago if the Pats did lose to them.
LOL... Jets win the Division????? HA! They don't... and if you think they do your delusional... we go 2 and 2 over the final 4 games of the year and are a wild-card team... The worst the Pats go over the final 4 is 3 and 1... I expect them to be 14-2 when all is said and done... that's the reality of the situation
We lost to GB and Baltimore, if they lose to Chicago they'd have losses to Chicago and Cleveland. Our common opponents are the AFC North and NFC North. If we win out and NE loses to Chicago we're both 6-2 against those common opponents
The Division..... THE DIVISION!!!!!!????? Sheesh, lets try to make the playoffs and get another win or 2 out of this schedule... Lose to Miami with @Pitt and @Chicago next and the sky will REALLY be falling..... Yeah, Miami is MUST WIN....
Well, you can be negative if you want, I am just trying to figure out how it would work if it ended all tied up.
This is most likely right but all the Jets can do is win the rest of their games and hope the Pats slip up against a division opponent which is possible.
yeah. all we can do is win the games we play. my question is about hte GB game. the pats still play them. if they lose to GB, that doesn't affect anything? nm next post answered my question.
It might come down to strength of victory then. If Chicago or Green Bay beat New England that is. If Miami or Buffalo does, the division goes to the Jets. Not that unrealistic. If Green Bay beats New England then strength of victory goes to NE because beating the Ravens is more impressive than beating the Browns right?
Sure, its realistic after losing by 42 the night before, but I am talking about what ifs down the stretch. Assuming the Jets go into Chicago and Pittsburgh and win is not smart, as both will be tough, but if they do and finish 13-3, I wanted to see what it takes to win the division. Nothing wrong with that Ellis.
I think, for the Patriots, 13-3 wins the division, 12-4 ties it. Don't go to such extremes, guys: we are not the worst team in the history of football, and the Patriots are not the Chosen Team. The Pats are red hot right now and the Jets are still cool. Things change.
13-3 won't win if there loss is against Miami or Buffalo and the Jets win out and finish 13-3. And I agree, things change. Its how the NFL works. If you watch long enough, you will get that, and not jump to such fast assumptions.
