Ive seen plenty of teams go for it on 4th there to run the ball. But they threw passes on 2 drives after that which stopped the clock so dont pretend its anything but trying to run up score they take cheap shots and do things like this all the time should be used to it a loss is a loss so only thing it can do is piss some people off and make them play better next time. Speaking of class i love how they call brady competitive when he yells at team and gets in other teams face after score but someone like to does it hes selfish just in it for himself
Fuck class this is football. You do what you have to to win. I dont watch football to see classy players, its a violent game and should remain so.
going for it on fourth down, in field goal range, in teh fourth quarter (or any quarter for that matter - if its already a blowout ), is actually NOT running up the score. going for the FG would be.... going for it on fourth gives the D a chance to stop points from happening. you should be pissed we didn't do that. thats actually keeping the clock moving, and stopping points. the opposite of what this thread is bitching about. as for why Tom brady is in the game with xxx left. why not? we weren't getting any pressure on him anyway, so its not like the injury potential was great. and he earned it. he did just own our D all night.
Sorry quick typing while at work. Ill try to clean these up basically i hate the pats on and off the field
Where is your support for this? Where has Rex ever given even the slightest impression that he's the type to run up the score or keep throwing with the huge lead?
its the NFL. professional sports on all levels, if oyu can't compete you get owned. its not on the other team to abandon their gameplan simply bc they're opponent is having a bad game. this is professional sports.
Exactly. The Patriots ran it at the Jets D which is supposedly a strength of their D. The Patriots were perfectly happy to take time off the clock in the process even if they didn't score. That's when I knew the game was truly over. It looked like the Jets D wanted out of there.
There is no such thing as running up the score in the NFL. If Belichick wants to risk a pissed off defender going for Brady's knees and ruining their season so be it.
it looked like they got punched in the mouth and never really woke up after it. shame that punch was in the early parts of q1.
Sorry, this is not a personal insult against you, but this post is retarded. "NFL" and "professional sports on all levels" my ass. Most professional football teams, when up by a huge number, (1) run and (2) do not pass on 4th down. College football where style points matter, yes. But I'm sure you have support for your statement that in the NFL, teams more often than not run up the score.
NE held the ball and a huge lead; it's Belichick's call and there was nothing the Jets could do about it short of stopping them. Just ask Joe Gibbs.
I only read the OP, so forgive me if I'm repeating what has been said 740 times. This is the NFL and these are grown ass men doing there jobs. If you don't like someone scoring, stop them. That defensive performance was a disgrace. I hope that we have the opportunity to do the same thing (go for it on 4th when up 900 points), and do it.
It's not the Patriots job to give up running their offense, it's the Jets job to stop them. If they could have dropped 60 on the Jets last night then they should have, because the Jets defense gave up a LONG time before the clock ran out. BJGE and Welker both carried guys into the end zone in the fourth quarter, they showed more heart in two plays than any of the mouths did in sixty minutes.
its your opinion they were running hte score. i'm of a different opinion. my point was in all sports every team has a gameplan. if that gameplan is extremely effective, they're not goign to abandon it bc the other team can't stop it. that's silly. you see it all the time. as for why i don't think it was running the score... the offense of hte pats is ridiculously oriented towards pass. yes they had hte lead, yes they were still in the shotgun in passing formations. bc that's their offense. they weren't throwing 20+ yard throws. they were throwing 5 yard throws that had YAC of 20+. that's on the D... us. not them.
The Pats shut it down offensively in the fourth quarter; they only threw the ball 4 times (twice on third down, once at the one for a touchdown at the very beginning of the quarter) and ran it 8 times.
So I'm curious what exactly did Rex say leading up the game? He has said nothing about the Pats that could be considered trash talk. If your going to make accusations then supply some quotes. He didn't try and rub your faces in shit when we could have in week 2. I could care less about the final score because a loss counts the same in the standings. If thats the way the Pats play I'm ok with it but I take issue more with the dirty play then the running up of the score. If the Pats want to make a statement it's a risk involved that they take. Funny though, as far as Tommy liking it cold, I thought it was large uncircumsized that he liked but I'm sure you wouldn't know anything about that.
