Denver plays in the AFC West, they have been palying garbage all year and they have had a bucnh of blowout games(for and against) where they have scored tons of points in meaningless garbage time. Orton in 2008 w/ Chi was the same guy as 2009 w/ Denver. he's slightly better #s wise this year but again alot of that has to do w/ garbage time #s. vs. baltimore Rex was scared of the Ravens and they didn't allow Mark to play vs. GB the conditions affected that game, even our overrated D shut down the GB O. remember it was a 3-0 game late until that 2nd BS "int" and we had 9 drops. last night the QB was terrible and the receivers were just as bad- it's hard to win when your players do not execute. Our O has been very good most of the year besides in our 3 losses. denver has been playing w/ no pressure as they are out of the race and they have been under 20 pts 6 times compared to 3 for the Jets. The pt totals are close b/c of garbage time #s, Denver probably scores 17-21 in the 4th qtr last night but do those pts mean anything?
You bring McDaniels in as an Asst. Coach with Offensive QC responsibilities. The offense gets tweaked...Schitty gets a HC job...everyone wins.
It's about as necessary as calling for Sanchez to be benched. The team is sitting at 9-3. These are the players and coaches that we are going with for the rest of the year like it or not. Hope that Sanchez doesn't throw picks right to the opposing team the rest of the way, hope that the offense finds some consistency, hope that this is a wake up call. I am gonna bow out of this thread and let you guys say what you need to say about firing him and bringing in McDaniels or whatever other shit needs to be vented out. I am pissed about the entire performance myself. Hopefully after a few days to cool down you will see that bringing in a new O.C. in December is an awful idea.
I admit brining is McDaniels now would be risky because like some had pointed out the changes in terminology. So why not promote Bill Callahan?? It would be the same terms, same system just different way of calling a game.
Junc, it's just wrong. We have no small ball sustainable offense..... Some of us have been saying this for quite some time. A team doesn't put up 45 on you when you can keep your offense on the field by averaging 4 yards a play.
If it was that simple I would be right there with you. I highly doubt it is that simple but like I just said in the above post, say what you guys need to say and let it go after that.
BS! Our offense sucked against the Vikings, we won that game because of turnovers and special teams. The offense kicked 5 Fn field goals that game. Our offense sucked in the Denver, Detroit and Houston game, except for the last parts of the game. The offense also sucked in the Bengals game. Not to mention the 3 losses, it was putrid. The offense has sucked far more than it has been good. Anyone really watching would see that.
And you don't find it a bit odd that those 3 losses were against the only playoff teams we have faced this season?
every facet of the game was a problem too, junc.....nobody is saying otherwise. But the offense has sputtered too much over the last month or so....and we've seen this happen before in previous seasons under Schotty's watch. Enough is enough.
Dude, nobody is saying the Defense didn't suck last night, but you are being naive if you don't admit our offense has sucked a lot worse this season. Again...we are 1 - 3 in our 4 games against playoff teams, averaging 10 points per game (and only 4 points per game in the 3 losses.) This is a valued offense to you?
We have a 2nd year QB who is still developing. he's had a really good year but there will be bad games from time to time. Our offense is why we are 9-3.
This game was 24-3 in the third....you're on the 10 yard line with 9 in the box....do you send Edwards for a Fade, or throw a slant outside to Holmes, No You run a post into the teeth of the defense which gets picked off. Now Sanchez should have never thrown the ball, but with a chance to make it 24-10 going over the middle is ridiculous.
Exactly, it would be one thing if all the talent was on defense, and the offense was void of any talent. But damn, look at the talent on offense! Not that this means everything, but look at this: Sanchez - top 5 pick in draft LDT - same Edwards- same Brick - same Holmes - first round pick Mangold - same Keller - same More than half the o is first round draft picks
no...our 2 minute no huddle offense is why we're 9-3. Stop fooling yourself, junc. I haven't seen the offense play a complete football game since we blew out the bills earlier in the season.
Exactly. The offense performs best when the element of surprise is no longer an option and Schotty is forced to rely on the talent of his players. Everyone knew we had to pass in those situations, and guess what - they STILL couldn't stop us. And that is what I meant earlier about not trying to outsmart your opponent all the time and simply hitting their weak spots with your strong spots until they break.
Junc, with all due respect, I expected you to say this. You were the one that defended the Herm Edwards offense of the past. Paul Hackett....lets face it...the Jets cant break the indentity of the past. What we are seeing with Schotty is what we saw with Mangini regime...the Edwards regime. Not since the Parcells regime has the franchised understood the concept of spreading out the offense with Vinny. Dont put words in my mouth...of course I realize how great Brady is. If you cant see that this offense is run between the hashmarks 80% of the time...if you cant see defenses lined up...double linebackers between the tackles to protect against the run...and our infamous 3 yard square ins/slant...if you cant see that this offense has Paul Hackett written all over it...then lets just say we agree to disagree. Dont give me the Holmes touchdown in OT or the Edwards bomb against the Colts last year..because I will give you the 42 passing attempts to LT over the middle..or the 75 fade out routes to Cotch or Edwards. Its the most predictable offense in the NFL. Sadly, the offensive line is so good..that even with all the obvious stated above...we still run the ball rather well. Imagine how well we would run the ball if teams didnt know exactly which area the field we live in. Dustin Keller has been reduced to a 5 yard button hook specialist...not the Dustin Keller who lit up the Bengals last year downfield. My guess is Shcotty used that playbook for toilet paper because we havent seen it since
