on the pass interference .....the ball hit his foot. Turn around and intercept the ball. No one seems to have any ball awareness in the secondary outside of Revis

He is a backup, but...get rid of him. I'd rather try Dig on the field at this point.

Someone should be made an example of after this loss. If we had another halfway decent safety, Smith should be cut after the game.

    We don't intercept passes.

The nerve of Damien Woody tweeting earlier in the week saying "Eric Smith has this defense down to a T."

Besides his sack, he was putrid, as was the secondary (aside from Revis because he was not mentioned all game long).

Eric Smith is proof that you can be a brilliant football mind, all the while lacking any real football instincts.

Watching him on the Branch TD is like reminiscing the Allen Faneca Turnstile, in the manner in which he flailed his arms and made a 180 spin.

Smith is a backup safety, and that is what you get. There is a reason he is not starting. Until now when the starter goes out.

    Fuck him and Fuck msu.

He made a decent play or two last night, but for the most part he's not showing his amazingly awesome football iq.

The team desperately needs him to step it up in the next few games, because there really isn't another option.

Smith should be a coach, he's not that good of a football player. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt since he only had 3 days to prepare, but still, he wasn't good at all.

He may not start every week, but he gets plenty of playing time every game, so I'm not buying the "3 days to prepare" bull.

The sad thing is, if he could ever learn to locate the ball in coverage, he could be a starting safety. This problem has plagued him for a long time now, and it was on full display last night.

The pass was underthrown and should have been picked. Any safety with a clue would have had that...

that's exactly what it is, the secondary has no ball awareness. Part of the reason our Defense can't win games they really do not get turnovers.
