I am gutted because it was such a weak performance. Once we gifted them the lead early it was all over. The team did look down, pretty much like they couldn't get over the incredibly bad start.. and they never really got into the game. We have started slow against most teams and our D has kept it close, this it would have seemed would have been the game to take the kick off and try and get on the Pats early. It isn't like you really expected the Pats not to get some points on the opening drive (albeit it just the FG), but you don't want to be chasing the game and seemingly crapping yourself if you don't score in reply and going for unmake-able field goals leaving a short field.. if the score was 0-0 at the point the jets attempted the 53 yrd FG, i'd say we'd have been punting to try to pin the Pats and put them under pressure
The underthrow to Sanchez wasn't pretty, but lets be honest Holmes wasnt getting a first there, and even if it was 4th and 2, meaning we got about 5 yards, Folks field goal was miles left, and on top of it, short. No two bones about it, it needed to be punted. Then again the way Steve punted the rest of the evening, he probably would have punted it backwards.... Of course thats in hindsight, I said to myself, give Folk a shot, its early and you need to know what his range is late in the game. He didnt just miss though, he missed by a billion yards which is flat out unacceptable.
Boy you got that right. One bonus for this Patriots fan beyond the win itself was seeing Rex Ryan shell-shocked at the press conference AND homer fans here just as stunned. So it's gut-check time for the Jets. ok, fine. Yeah they need to beat Miami and they probably will do that but this is just the type of game that Miami will get up for (a team with nothing to really play for except to mess up the rival Jets)
Its funny because I turned the game off last night when the pat went up 24-3. I knew what kind of night we were in for. If I had posted last night after the final, I would have said that I'm not watching another game, this team is shit, etc. After having slept on it, I'm not as angry, but still not happy. I'm going to take of the Jets goggles and say that the Jets are a medicore team that happens to be 9-3. We could easily be 6-6, but the team did find ways to win those games. I'm not saying that the Jets were lucky to win those games; they earned and deserved to win, but why they still playing like a 6-6 team? Last night showed that the Jets can't compete with playoff calibur teams. We have lost to the Pats, Ravens, and Packers. It very well could be possible that we would have to beat all three of those teams in the playoffs to win the Super Bowl this year. I hope I am wrong and that those about to bash me are correct, but as of right now, the way that this team actually is, I don't see how the Jets make it past the second round of the playoffs.
The most difficult aspect of this loss is not so much the loss itself but the way we lost. We did not come prepared to play this game which is not only on the coaching staff but the players themselves. Elite teams step it up in these games.
It's the difference between Cleveland pummeling the Patriots and the Patriots trashing the Jets last night. Both losses were humiliating but this was a mano-a-mano contest where the Jet contenders was just schooled. I would be very surprised if the Jets don't win (and probably win convincingly) against the Dolphins. A good team, a well coached team would do that. And the Jets are still a good team. Still in the top 4 or 5 in the league imo.

First of all, props to you... in the big build-up you were one of the most vocal "Pats have no chance" guys, so I can completely respect your mea culpa here. Lesser fans would have just stayed off the boards like I usually do if the Patriots lose. That said... The Jets may not be what you thought they were 24 hours ago, but they're also not what you think they are right now. They're not a farce... they're a very good NFL team. Last night was a perfect storm, like Trent Dilfer (I think) said in the post-game. The Patriots were listening to all the talk and bravado, and like I tried to tell you last week, they are - in lots of ways - way more dangerous without Moss than they were with him. I think you probably understand now that wasn't homer talk, but an honest assessment of their offense. The Jets' defense had no answers because the Patriots spread out their attack so effectively. Defensively, the Patriots thrived on the emotion of the moment. And I think it's obvious that Sanchez still has some work to do. He looked uneasy all night, even when it was fairly tight early on. In the end this is just one game. Being a football fan involves lots of highs and lots of lows. There's still 25% of the season left to go... anything can happen.
